Follow me and you will be OK :)

Note - make sure you update your matrox to firmware 2.3.40 and video table 6.56.
1. Install nvidia driver.
2. Install PowerDesk and run the wizard for 1680x1050x1 @ 60Hz
3. Create a custom resolution in nvidia driver with the same numbers you see in the pic:
4. PLAY AROUND WITH THE VERTICAL REFRESH RATE till you found the number that works for you. ex. 59.454 ,59.400 etc...
5.
- Go to your Powerdesk SE install folder.
- Edit DeviceInfo.ini with notepad, find and replace all
"Name=CUST_MODE" to "Name=CUST_MODE_1" and
"Name=CustomDisplay" to "Name=CustomDisplay_1"
- Reboot
6. Send me your love - and have a blast playing @ [email protected] :rockout

Big thanks to gshlomi for his help and testing !

By the way Horizantal polarity (+), Vertical polarity (-) is also working for me... And every monitor in the market can do 59HZ because it is not exactly 59, it calculates as 60HZ in the system.

and also 1440x900 x 3
To make this resolution work first i created single screen 1440x900 from matrox wizard.

I posted the solution already http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/fo ... 2&start=30 :cheers

and you can play with HZ also to match your system, and system will see this as 60Hz without any problems.

And thank you for posting custom resolution fix.

Your post does not say anything about playing around with the vert freq.

We had to figure it out our selves.

Your post did give as hope we can do it.

Great work

Thank you for your input !

Thanks i am happy that the solution helped you and i think this post will help everyone with matrox to do 5040 and 4320 resolutions. I think this a Universal solution for every matrox user.

For best result and solution , first you can install 182.50(Vista 64 bit drivers) and make sure your displays work at 5040x1050, and then take screenshot of the values in your Nvidia Control panel custom resolution section and ofcourse try to reach the aproximate values in newest drivers.

It's working now, followed your writeup to the letter.

1) Clean install of Win 7 x64
2) Updated Firmware (from same version to same version, I believe this resets the GXM settings?)
3) Reboot
4) Installed Nvidia 195.81 BETA drivers
5) Reboot
6) Installed Matrox PowerDesk 2.06
7) Reboot
8) Ran through Wizard, set 1680x1050 via the Auto selection.
9) Reboot
10) Wizard runs through the remaining three checkpoints BUT the screens change and black out. OCD for the monitors shows it running at 12x something resolution.
11) Shutdown
12) Startup, resolution is 1680x1050.
13) Swap displays, so I could get output on center monitor.
14) Via Nvidia Control Panel configured custom resolution as per OP instructions, with a Vrefresh of 59.400
15) Edited ini file as per OP instructions.
16) Rebooted
17) Matrox prompt detected changes, click yes for reboot.
18) Reboot
19) Change desktop resolution via Windows to 5040x1050.
20) Subsequent reboots, all is well in wonderland.

Gonna go reinstall steam and what not again, and hopefully this will last.
Something I noticed while reading through the inifile was the lack of W7 entries, it was all XP and Vista.

Hmmm... Nicely done! I haven't tried this yet because I did the evil of all evils thing.

I went back to xp. Solved all my issues at once. Maybe I'll try a dual boot or something.

I f***ing love you dude !!!!! You're my f***ing hero !!!!!

I can't believe I am writing this at 5040 with aero in Win7 x64 with 195.81 driver ...

I was previously on 181.71 with beta Powerdesk.

Now everything runs OK on SLi GTX285 with one Acer AL2223W and two Samsungs 2243bwx.

Running good at first try on 5040x1050 @ 59.400 Hz.
