Hi,

I had a big message typed up but the forum ate it for some reason...

Basically, I have my Mview box working perfectly at 5040x1050 under Windows XP, but it refuses to work under Windows 7 Professional x64.

Here are the settings I used when creating the custom resolution in the nvidia control panel (I was supplied these by the mview people):

Horizontal desktop pixels: 5040
Vertical desktop lines: 1050
Refresh rate: 60 Hz
Bits per pixel: 32
Timing standard: Manual

Active horizontal pixels: 5040
Active vertical lines: 1050

Horizontal front porch: 16
Vertical front porch: 3

Horizontal sync width: 16
Vertical sync width: 6

Horizontal total: 5088
Vertical total: 1080

Horizontal sync polarity: +
Vertical sync polarity: -

When I click test the screens go blank for a while, I then get a distorted image, and finally it resets back to 3840x1024, saying the resolution test failed. :(

[list]
[*] I have 3 GTX260 Core 216 video cards, running the 195.62 WHQL drivers. I also tried the 196.21 WHQL drivers and they made no difference.
[/*:m]
[*] I also tried the settings for the Matrox box, as recommended in the 'Fixes for nvidia users' threads. I have a Matrox box but I'd prefer to use the Mview one as it can do 60hz, while the Matrox box can't.
[/*:m]
[*] I've tried installing the MVV.inf file, and I've also tried using the supplied Mview tool. Using the tool doesn't add the resolutions to either the windows resolution menus or the nvidia control panel.[/*:m][/list:u]

I've sent off an email to the Mview folks, but I was kinda hoping for a quick fix and considering I only sent the email last night and it's probably the weekend in China... as a result I was hoping someone who has it working could share their wisdom :D

Thanks for reading, I can't wait to be a fully working member of the :triplewide club ;)

Try lowering the Refresh Rate to 59.965 (or something less than 60, but more than 59) Hz. This is a common issue among the TH2Go and mView Product.

Thanks for the suggestion! Won't that break DX10 though? If so it kinda defeats the point of getting it working in Windows 7...

yeah it will, The only similar product that can get it at a real 60 Hz is the TH2Go DisplayPort Edition.

Well that sucks considering how much I've spent on everything already.

I'm hoping the mview people have some ideas... I'm willing to forgive them for 4800x1200 @ 55hz not working, but if 5040x1050 @ 60hz doesn't work... then there's a problem. I expect to buy something and have it work as advertised.

I could have gone for Eyefinity - but then I'd need at a minimum, 2 new video cards to match my current setup. Or a 5970. Plus my new monitors don't have DP, so that adds a further expense...

Hi,
I will try to help everybody to set up 5040X1050 60Hz.but this resolution related to other things for example Video card,Os and CPU.
As you known,Matrox can't sure everybody can get 5040x1050 resolution.because this format is non-Vesa standard(EDID max set to 4095 pixels).if user want to get over 4096,this must write some register key to windows.
for 4800x1200 55HZ , We try to help you get this format.we test this format at our lab.that is no problem, but this format don't startard resolution (55HZ not 60HZ).So We don't sell product with this format to other people.
Please give us some time,we will do more for everybody and afford more flexible than Matrox.

Best Regards!
Mviewtech.

I apologise for coming across a bit harsh, I understand this is messy technology.

Also, don't worry about the 4800x1200 @ 55Hz resolution, you tried your best to help me get it working, which I really appreciate. If I'd known about the DX10 60Hz problem to start off with I wouldn't have bothered in the first place, as I like using Windows 7 and DX10.

It's just I've spent so much time trying to get this working I'm just getting a bit frustrated. And with solutions like nvidia's triple monitor support just around the corner it's hard to justify all the time i've spent on this. I suppose I'm just impatient. Plus there's no guarantee nvidia's solution will scale as well as a matrox or mview box, especially with my triple sli setup.

I managed to get 5040x1050 working in windows 7, as expected I had to use 59.100Hz as the frequency, which means Crysis Warhead won't work and neither will a bunch of other games.

I'm willing to provide whatever information you think you'd need in order to fix this problem. I do believe I am close to getting 5040x1050 @ 60Hz working.

I shall keep trying some different frequencies and see how close I can get to 60Hz without it breaking.

Thanks again for all your help so far, to the Mview people and the people on this forum.

Sorry for making an extra post but this really needs it.

5040x1050 @ 59.1Hz = works

5040x1050 @ 60.1Hz = works

5040x1050 @ 60Hz = 'resolution not supported/test failed' :x

What the fark is going on??? The 60.1 resolution even shows up as 60hz in the nvidia control panel, but obviously mustn't really be 60hz as crysis warhead crashes on startup. I guess it could be crysis at fault... BUT it does work in a window at that resolution!

For each resolution I used the exact same settings I posted earlier and just tweaked the Hz. This is with the absolute latest nvidia developer beta drivers too.

This really makes no sense...

It's supported... under XP.

But that's about it so far :(

I emailed Mview a while ago to see if they'd had any successes since our last contacts, but I haven't heard back yet :(

It's a shame because I really want to try some games under DX10 in Windows 7 Pro x64. I can't even get FarCry 2 working and Crysis just crashes on loading.

Help us Mview :(
