Not sure how many people may have heard of the gadget show, it's a British tv program which this week designed a 360 degree gaming simulator. The tv show is more about having fun than being particularly factual but this was pretty good to watch and may inspire people to add certain bits to their builds. Take a look:

There are a lot of things I really like about this build. The main one being the head tracking to get around the 180 degree 3d gaming engine limitations. That is a game changer right there. Wonder if something like that can't be pulled off with a TrackIR?

I don't seem why not, but I see a problem with this. Basically, as you turn around, you have to move the game screen, almost like a window, around the screens and wrap it once you get to the end on the screen.

I believe I have a solution that would work really well, probably even better than the one I've posted above from the gadget show, and would be farrrrr cheaper to build than theirs. Only problem is that I can't justify spending the money on doing it at the moment as we're about to build a couple of extensions to the house so will need all the money we can get until that's done.

Post subject:  I think I'm going to

I think I'm going to experiment with geodesic dome 5x1L projection next summer. Whip up something using surplus masonite sheeting and a couple cans of white paint. Spirit Aerosystems uses masonite sheeting with their packing material and I can buy the sheeting by the stack for $5. Not too hard to cut up triangles of masonite to make the dome pieces. Use about $5 in masonite and about $30 in paint and I have a temporary 20 foot geodesic dome to mess with. Now just to scheme up a level 2 key for X-Plane 10 to use it's dome capability...
