Hi Zendesigner
I think this may be possible and have been thinking of doing it myself.
When Matrox says "it is not officially suported" this is a very different response from "does not work"!
I run my flight simulator with 2 x 7950 GX2 cards with the 4 outputs going to the following screens:
Card 1 Output 1 : 3 x 21" LCD with Matrox TH2GO (front window)
Card 1 Output 2 : 10" LCD (Virtual GPS)
Card 2 Output 1 : 24" LCD (left window)
Card 2 Output 2 : 24" LCD (right window)
With all the screens set to 1280x 1024 (except for the little one running at 800x600 for the GPS) I get an effective span of 6400 x 1024! This equates to 7,033,600 pixels all up.
This works great in FS2004 (a bit fiddly undocking all the windows and them lining them up again) and ok in FSX though with the latter, even with my powerful pc, frame rates start to be become an issue.
So my guess is that FS2004 with 2 x TH2GO and 6 LCD might be ok. You might have to run at 2 x 3072 x 768 to get good frame rates but an effective span of 3072 by 1536 would be impressive. I suspect you would need to make up a frame to hold all of the LCD's in place on VESA mounts and would need a strong table!
With my dual 7950 set up I am wondering if 7 24" LCD's might be possible ie
Card 1 Output 1 : 3 x 24" LCD with TH2GO (front window)
Card 1 Output 2 : 10" LCD (Virtual GPS)
Card 2 Output 1 : 2 x 24" LCD with DH2GO (left window)
Card 2 Output 2 : 2 x 24" LCD with DH2GO (right window)
That would give me 8960 x 1024 or 7168 x 768 in FS2004! (9.655M or 5.985M pixels respectively).
Do you know anybody with a DH2GO or TH2GO to run a test?
Best of luck
