Hi robert,
I had a mismatch when I got my 3 19' dell's originally.
I had tried reordering one of them, but was still given a different revision of the monitor.
Typically as others have said, each monitor is different, but I think if you order three from the same source, and get a batch made at the same time, one shouldn't run into any major differences monitor wise.
I finally spoke to a Dell Sales rep who was a bit of a tech and understood what i was doing, and set me up with an order for three more of the monitor model I had, but being ordered at the same time, he placed anote on that order to try to ensure that the warehouse pickers would grab three of the same lot ... which I got. by default all three sahow the same gray, dont have to tweak ... :)
That said though, even looking at them at different angles, the colors may shift a bit, but all three do this, if you looked at it you might think they are off, but closer inspection would show they are good to go.
So IMO, you can get identical monitor models, but yu have to go the extra step to get the same lot or revision to get the screens themselves matched up.
