I currently use a single 24" Sony CRT, had a few technical questions.

First, I don't want to get rid of the CRT. So was wondering if an LCD added on each side would be feasible due to refresh issues, etc?

Second, how (well?) does the TH2G handle a widescreen monitor in the center and two normal aspect monitors on the sides?

Not sure about the first question. But, a no to the second. The TH2Go supports either 3x5:4 (3x1280x1024), 3x4:3 (3x1024x768, etc.) and 3x15:9 (3x1280x768) and 3x16:9 (3x1280x720).

All the monitors have to be the same aspect, so that the signals can sync properly.

For a 24" CRT, this mon size is quite big. So, if you use the max resolution supported by TH2G (ie 1280 x 1024), then the refresh rate is only 60Hz. At this refresh rate, LCDs are ok but seems a little low for a CRT mon. I suspect shimmering might happen??

The maximum refresh rate supported by TH2G (ie 75Hz) happens when you use 1024 x 768. Now you have a more accetable refresh rate but now the resolution is lower. And I suspect putting 1024 x 768 on a 24" CRT mon might not look very pretty??

These are just my 'educated guesses'.
(BTW, what resolution and refresh rate are you using for this mon now?)

Ideally, the 3 mon should be identical so that the color rendering and response time would be the same and makes gaming 'better'.
Eg It might not be a good idea to put a Samsung LCD with 2ms response time in the middle and use two Philips LCDs with 25ms as side mon. Mixing CRT and LCD might now satisfy you if you are a perfectionist. Just a thought.

My guess is that his 24" CRT is the Sony WS model.

It's fine to mix LCDs with CRts, just know that they'll share the same "refresh rate", so at full resolution, 38x10, you're stuck at 60hz :P 75hz is available is you render a little less though, can't remember what res, but the vertical scan is 768.

For a center WS, and "wing" normal aspect ratio, the short answer is "no." All monitors will have the same resolution, so your WS image will be a streched 5:4. If you use the triple WS mode in TH2G, then the center will look okay but the wings will be squashed to 5:4 from WS.

You could use 2 video cards in non-sli to achieve this though. You'll just ave to use the center WS by itself for gaming.
