Thought it might be useful to start a thread listing monitors that have Dual DVI inputs in anticipation of the upcoming TH2Go Digital.

I plan on running to both inputs so I can have an SLI TH2Go solution and a direct-from-windows 3x1600x1200 three-monitor desktop solution.

So far, in the 1600x1200 monitors, I have only been able to locate the HP LP2065.

I've heard good things about this monitor, so am leaning towards this one.

Currently $349 post rebate at Newegg:

So you are happy with a 1280x1024 display on 1600x1200 panel?

Just wondering myself whether to go with native panels or opt for 1600x1200's...

For gaming I'm not that concerned about the scaling. From everything I've read and seen, it ain't a big issue. In addition, for those games that do not work with TH2Go, I don't want to be stuck playing 1280x1024.

Personally, my biggest concern with switching to LCD's is black levels. I currently use a 24" FW900 Sony CRT as my primary monitor and it is hard to beat a CRT for "dark" gaming.

Problem seems to be that 1600x1200 monitors have fallen out of fashion, so the selection is somewhat limited and relatively expensive.

I've been searching for 1600x1200 panels at local stores to see some in action, but I can't find any anywhere. Online, I've been looking at the Samsung 204B, Viewsonic vp2030b, LG L2000c, and th HP.

The HP is the only one with dual DVI inputs and is somewhat reasonable. Although the 204B is relatively inexpensive, it uses a TN panel so I'm concerned about dark levels.

What are you looking at?

I'm probably going to stick to 19"'ers - got a 2407 for non TH2Go use.

Looking at Dell 1907/8 to match the 2407 - how about their 1600x1200 20"?

A list of dual-DVI-input monitors is a great idea, even if the panels aren't 1600x1200 native. Even 1280x1024 panels would be useful with dual DVI, because then your can run your Windows desktop as three separate monitors (albeit with a second GPU) for a true multimonitor environment. This allows you to use UltraMon.

I think with 3 monitors, 19" still gives you plenty of screen real estate, so it's not really necessary to spend the money on 1600x1200 LCDs.

I totally agree with you on the screen real-estate situation. 3 1280x1024's for windows is perfect for my needs.

However... as mentioned... it is the non-TH2G games that I am concerned with. Falcon 4 comes to mind (one that is near and dear to you as well.. :) ) Not being able to have a cockpit in 1600x1200 is a major disadvantage to me.

On the flip side, spending $1k for a 3-panel array of 16x12's hurts as well. I'm really having a tough time with this decision.

Question though: why would 2 DVI's be a prerequisite for a "true multimonitor environment"? Can't one do that type of Ultramon multimonitor situtation with the analog TH2G and two GPU cards... or is the cabling less burdensome with the digital TH2G and DVI connections?

I look forward to your review BTW... any idea when it will be ready? :)

Using the NewEgg PowerSearch ability, here is a list of monitors in either 1280x1024 or 1600x1200 that have 2 DVI Ports:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=Property&Subcategory=20&Description=&Type=&N=2010190020&srchInDesc=&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&PropertyCodeValue=1099%3A9237&PropertyCodeValue=1099%3A9238&PropertyCodeValue=2333%3A14220

Except for the two HP's.... VERY expensive. Considering the 1600x1200 is only $100 more than te 1280x1024, it might be the better choice.

Understand that I don't like PowerDesk, and abandoned its use with my analogue TripleHead2Go. Before I went triplehead, I was a dual monitor user, and I got used to Ultramon, most importantly its ability to flick windows to different monitors (even while maximized) at the press of a hotkey. Assign this hoykey to a mouse button, and you can move things all over the place with ease.

Powerdesk has no such capability, so in order to move a maximized window from one monitor to another, you have to restore it, drag it to a different screen, and maximize it again. You also get a single taskbar, which means the Start button and Quick Launch are all the way over on the left, and the clock and status bar are all the way over on the right. Finally, Power desk ques everything left-to-right across the taskbar instead of placing only the taskbar buttons that correspond to that window in that window's taskbar.

Because I wanted to keep using Ultramon and have Windows think I actually have three monitors, I run my analogue TripleHead2Go at a single-screen resolution on the Windows desktop. I then have the secondary output on my primary GPU connected to one side monitor, and the output of a secondary GPU connected to the other monitor. The monitors are CRTs with dual VGA inputs. On the desktop I run the outside monitors on Input 1, and when I game in a triplehead resolution I switch these monitors to Input 2. This gets me the best of both worlds for the price of a secondary GPU (~$50).

If you want to do the same thing with LCDs and the digital TripleHead2Go, you need monitors with dual DVI inputs in order to maintain the best image quality. One DVI input goes to the digital TripleHead2Go, and the other runs directly to a GPU. Technically you'd only need 2 monitors with dual DVI inputs because you don't need to switch the center monitor, but of course it's best to have 3 matching monitors.

One would think that, with a user base coming up with ways to work around the limits of Powerdesk, Matrox might spend some time devloping some relatively simple but very useful desktop management features such as window jumping and a smart taskbar.

I look forward to your review BTW... any idea when it will be ready? :)
Had some issues getting the digital edition to work properly, which I suspect had to do with leftover weirdness from the analogue. I'm up and running now, so hopefulyl in 2 or 3 weeks something will be published.
