I have not used ATI Radeon card since the days of 9800 Pro. From some general reading here and in the net, it appears that Radeon display cards are *relatively speaking* not as good as Nvidia cards as far as driving the TH2G unit is concerned.

Is my perception valid? Does anyone who has used or is using a modern Radeon card confirm this? (By 'modern', I am talking about the 38xx series because I am about to receive a very cheap (almost free...hehe) 3870 512MB)

If Radeon display cards are relatively not as good as Nvidia cards for TH2G, I suppose it is software-related (ie Catalyst drivers not written well for the TH2G) and not hardware-related. Am I correct?

For current Radeon 3850/3870 users, which Catalyst version you are using for Th2G? (I am using Vista 32-bit)

Thanks for any input in this topic: Radeon display/ Catalyst / TH2G-digital

While I can't comment on usage with a TH2G specifically I'd say at least that both sides have issues. I was on ati till a X1950 with multiple scaling and stability problems. Now under nvidias and the same still goes.

There were problems with older ATI cards (9x00 series, X1x00 series) and the TripleHead2Go; ATI drivers did not allow this hardware to render a triplehead 3840x1024 image.

The ATI HD series of cards (i.e. HD2600, HD2900, etc.) does not have this limitation, nor do the latest 3870 GPUs. AFAIK these are just as capable with the TripleHead2Go as the latest nVidia hardware.
