Right folks,

I have only just finished setting up my new rig consisting of an ASUS Striker II Extreme, QX9770, 4GiB OCZ14400 DDR @2000 and 3 GTX280 in TriSLI.
Overkill, you say?
I hear ya, but I recently closed a major project, so I felt like rewarding myself.
On my previous setup with 2 8800 Ultra I had already been using a TH2Go DE, and absolutely loved playing games like WiC @ 3840x1024.
In view of that I was really looking forward to hooking up my TH2Go DE to my new rig, but although it displays fine on a single screen @1920x1200, all I get even during boot is image tearing, rolling and eventually a blank set of screens. During all that the status LED on the TH2Go flashes between red and green.
I have tried this with TriSLI enabled as well as disbaled, changed single monitor to multi monitor and compatibility mode etc. I don't seem to be able to contact Matrox (their hotline never picks up and they don't respond to my mails), and I'm getting kinda fed up. Also, I don't seem to be able to find a manual for the TH2Go DE which might help me understand the red/green LED status, so all my hopes rest on you ingenious individuals in giving me a hand here.
In the bulding of the rig (it's submerged in and cooled by parafinum liquidum) I had to use a 90 degrees DVI adpater on the graphics card(http://www.svideo.com/dvirightangle.html), but considering 1920x1200 is working fine on a single screen, it doens't appear to be causing a problem with dual link.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

All the Best

Do you intend to have 3x 1920x1200 ? If so, this might be the problem  All DX10 theory aside, max res is still 3840x1024 (3x 1280x1024), 4080x768 (3x 1360x768) or 3840x1200 (2x 1920x1200) !

Here's what I'd try :
-boot on a single monitor, change desktop resolution from 1920x1200 to 1280x800 (I know... it hurts to use such a crappy res on a modern monitor !!!) then turn off the rig.
-ready your TH2G setup and fire it up, it should boot normally and you'll end up with a 3840x800 desktop.

From there you can try and experiment, but I 'm afraid TH2G can't do anything better with such large panels just now...

Whether you stick to TH2G or widescreen gaming, I'm really curious to read your report on that "overkill" 3-way SLI setup of yours :P Most reviews seem to say SLI scales pretty darn well with 2 cards, and pretty darn bad with 3... I tend to believe your beefy CPU and RAM may help.
(And what kind of PSU are you using btw ?)

Hi jmbuehler,

I'm sorry to hear you've had difficulty contacting our tech support department.

If you can pm me with your email address and a number where you can be reached, I"ll have a tech support official get in touch with you asap.

Thx,

I can identify with your frustration as I am going thru this myself at this very moment. I have been struggling with the DTH2Go for the past 2 weeks and I found this .pdf file titled "Triplehead2Go User Guide (2007.5.22 version)

Red light means that either you are using an unsupported display mode or some of your graphic hardware is not supported. (page 15)

Take a look yourself.
http://www.matrox.com/graphics/media/pdf/products/gxm/triplehead2go_guide.pdf

What three displays you are using for your setup? Are you using three 1920 x 1200 LCD monitors? I am using three HD LCDTVs (1920 x 1080p panel). Maybe your experience can help me out as well.

PS I have also contacted Matrox Technical Support. The fact that they are not responding to you doesnt give me much hope in this direction.

Hey guys,

thanks for your replies, really appreciate it. I am running a setup with a 24" LG in the middle with a native res of 1920x1200, and two 19" Eizos at either side with a native res of 1280x1024.
This has worked really well for me in the past, and doesn't require as much real estate on my desk as 3 24" screens would.
I have already tried setting a low res (I even went as far as 800x600) on a single monitor and then tried to install the TH2Go DE, but no luck.
And I also found said pdf document via good ole Google, but it appreas to be referencing the old TH2Go, which is not powered via USB. In view of lacking power via USB I alternated several USB ports as well as an external powered USB 2.0 hub, no joy.

Also, I ran the TH2Go compatibility wizard, which came up all fine and dandy, so it cannot be a case of unsupported hardware. And pulling 800x600 across 3 screens ought to be within the realms of reasonability, me thinks. So no unsupported resolutions either.

If anyone else has any thoughts on this or previous experience with TriSLi on TH2Go, please do let me know.

Again, thanks so much for your help!

All the Best

Oh yeah I know that :D

I have it running so it's at 3840x1024, that way the center screen is stretched which I don't mind at all, partcularly for games like Flight Sim and stuff.

Find a way to test without your right angle plug. It may not be DL-DVI, and that may cause a problem. I know that the DTH2Go is very sensitive to signal and signal strength. If my cable is the slightest bit loose, it plays hell.
