Testing configuration for Black Shark
Rig: i7 920, 6GB mem, WXP, 3xDell 3008wfp, 8800u + 8800gts320

no TripleHead (hotkey, no upload to left&right mons)
MH -> multihead option in SoftTh
CUDA -> using CUDA drivers for upload to left&right mons
19x12 -> rendered a full res, but uploaded at 1920x1200 to left&right mons, visually is like some sort of SSAA

MIN DETAIL (fps)
--------------------------------------
no TripleHead --> 47
+TH --> 24
+TH +MH --> 30
+TH +CUDA --> 35
+TH +D3D --> 22
+TH +CUDA + MH --> 35
+TH +D3D + MH --> 35
+TH +CUDA + 19x12 --> 42!!

No gains when CUDA+MH, wich is strange, cause both options let to more than decent fps gains.

MAX DETAIL
--------------------------------------
no triplehead --> 27
+TH --> 17
+TH +CUDA --> 27

I have yet some room for more fps:
- Soon I will upgrade to 285gtx
- Overclock CPU & memory (in this case it will be really running at their nominal speed of 1600Mhz)
- Migrate to Win7

Now, some screenies:

Hi,

I got a 3-SLi GTX285 setup on a i7 and Windows XP 64-bit SP 1 machine but can't seem to get the 5760x1200 resolution across 3x 24" monitors.

Do I set it under the nVidia Control Panel or the normal Windows function.

How do I also connect the DVI cables to the GPI cards? One for each card or the 1st & 2nd DVI cable to the first GPU card at the top and 3rd DVI cable to the 2nd GPU card in the middle?

Many Thanks!

You need SoftTh, a free software for surround gaming. It allows resolutions above 3x1680x1050 (TripleHead2go max resolution). Also, it´s no compatible with SLI/CF, so you can only play with one 285gtx. It works, but only one card does the main work, other cards are needed only for additional (third) outputs.

Best configuration for you would be two 285gtx, two outputs from the main one (better than one output used for each card) or one 285gtx and another card, which can be a cheaper one (2xPCIE is prefered).

As you can see in my benchs, proper tweaking of SoftTh can lead to enormous fps gains, so it´s not a no-brain software (...but is free).

I´ll post more screenshots for other games in another, some of them playable at that resolution with almost all max settings (Dead Space is spectacular and playable at that resolution).

Saludos.

Thanks! Appericate it. =]

Btw, how about on a normal desktop view at 5760x1200? Is this possible as well? How can I configure this? With SoftTH as well?

Cheers!

You don´t have to do anything special for desktop use. SoftTh is only for surround gaming.
