Hello all

I am new here, been playing Sim racing - rfactor, GTR EVO, Grandprix4 on a 25.5 monitor for 4 years now, saw some video's on you tube, looking amazing gaming to triple screen... I did a lot of reading but still confused, any help would be greatly appreciated

I only play racing games,

I have2 9800 GTX in SLI

What is best setup as to which monitor to buy

3 19inch standard 1280x1024

3 22inch widescreen 1680x1050

I personally like the 22 inch widescreen 1680x1050

will the 2 9800 GTX able to handle it?

Any advice on people who already have this, kind of expensive of I have to know

Any other advice?

Thanks

Nali007

Hi

I'm using 3, 25.5", but currently can't do 3x1680x1050. Mine won't do 57Hz :(
I have to run at 3x1440x900. A single GTX 285 does fine in rFactor and everything else I play, for that matter. All my games have max graphics settings, except FSX.
I don't know much about SLI though. I think you will be fine with either monitor size you listed though. That's a bit more pizels than I display, so I don't know.
I would go with the 22", if me and chance it. I don't feel like I would want anything smaller, myself. Most likely, you'll be fine in those games.
Just be sure to check the sticky thread for 'Known Working at 57Hz' models.

Good luck and maybe I will see you on track sometime ;)

Two 9800GTX is more or less equivalent to one GTX285 with normal resolutions. But on the framebuffer side some recent games could probably struggle at max details + 5040x1050 with AA on only 512MB ...

(unless you got a 1GB variant of each 9800GTX, each card only comes with 512MB & since framebuffer is shared in SLI, real available vid mem is only 512MB)
you can test out how much vid memory is used with rivatuner if you're interested though it requires a bit of documenting & setup.

I am quite sure you'll be just peachy @ 3840x1024 (3x19")
Used to have evga 8800GTS SSC 640mb and i actually used to tweak rFactor a little to get (satisfactory 60fps)
I am pretty sure you'll be fine at 3840x1024 with SLI, and probobly end up tweaking at 5040x1050. I for one dont use AA at all for ex. Cant see any difference from 3feet away anyways , hah
In any case like some suggested GTX285 is great, i can vouch for it....

I have an I7 CPU, Asus MB, 6 Gb and an nVidia GTX260.

Run THTGO w/ (3) 24" Samsungs at 5040x1050 - install and setup (182 drivers) was easy but FPS took a noticeable hit.

In rFactor and GTR2, many tracks w/ 25 cars FPS now dip below 50. I'm currently trying to decide between a 2nd 260 in SLI or an upgrade to a GTX275.

Hope this helps :D

Well, don't look like I will see you on track afterall :(
I don't do F1. Don't get me wrong, I love F1, but I'm too old for the fast cars, hehe. Back in the day I used to race F1, (EA's F1 series and GP-4), but now I am too far off pace to be on track.
I mainly do sports cars, and slower open wheelers now.

Anyway, good luck with your setup (both TH2Go and your race setup ;) )
And forgive me for not already saying, welcome to WSGF :)

Bye for now.

Hi

Here is the Touring Car Legends BMW on the Ring_2007 Nordschleife for rFactor.

In this shot, I was looking (TrackIR) slightly left when I took it.
The lines were are there becuase I used this as an example of what each of the three screens were displaying.
But anyway, it gives you an idea ;)

I do a lot of different cars. I'm mainly racing at Simraceonline.
I don't have time to get involved in too many leagues. I'm pretty happy with the setup over there. Also a lot of fun. Attendence have been down lately. Hopefully things will pick up again, once summer winds down.
