Okay, I'm Upgrading to 3 x 1920 x 1080 over top of a 3 x 1440 x 900 Setup. I havn't ever used Flight Sim, but was thinking it would be awesome to use my old 4320x900 TH2Go setup for the control Panels and the Top Section 5760x1080 SoftTH setup For the outside view.

Can I do this on either Flight Simulator (2004 or 10)?

My computer has a Ati Radeon 4870 1GB as it's main card and a Ati x300 as my secondary.

Think this is more academic with your setup than anything, as you will be pushing more than 10.1million pixels, in a graphics card that is 2 years old.

Your frame buffers are going to be two big even with AA/AF off with the limited VideoRam on that card.

On top of that you are pushing half of those pixels through your system and 2nd video cards memory. Really think that even if it does work, you are going to need something like TRI SLI or CrossfireX to run this. Even with this solution you are still going to have issue of not enough VRAM for this many pixels.

This may be true, but only the 3x1920x1080 will be rendering 3D, the other will be using 2D Control Panels. Even if I get 10 fps, It would be cool to do, so is it possible?

I figure:

2 x 1080p screens on the 4870 and 1 x 1080p screen and the TH2Go (VGA) on the x300

Sure it can be done as long as the width does not exceed 8192 pixels. That'll probably mean arranging them in the control panel so that it'll be 3 wide stack up on 3 wide under it. Now that the theoretical is out of the way, is this going to be on a single card or multiple cards? Either way you're going to take a FPS hit. The question needs to be will the quality of your gameplay be adversely effected enough that you're not having as much fun in the game vs a higher fps? For many people the additional screen capability more than makes up for the fps hit....just so long as it doesn't feel like a slide show.

Another option would be to dig up a bit of an older parts machine from your recent cast off of parts sitting around (if you upgrade semi-regularly this might be plausiable) and build up a second computer to do with cockpit stuff with. 1 computer doing the outside visuals and master computer while you have a second lesser slave computer doing the instruments and other interfacing with the other 3 screens. You're starting to venture into simpit territory about then though. That would lead me to suggest visiting http://www.mycockpit.org for ideas. Just a thought.
