I recently bought:
2 x ASUS VE278Q (http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0041RXPQY)
1 x ASUS VK278Q (http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0041VDCL8)

Identical models except for VK also having an integrated webcam.

These are really excellent monitors for a very good price also regarding that they have the DP interface.
Definitely a recommendation !! :rockout

Cheers for posting this.

I been considering some new gear and the 27" monitors sound like a great size/price point.

I'm running 16:10 monitors at the moment - so the extra width in single monitor gaming sounds great to me.

What the mic like on the webcam? If it's passable then I might take the leap on that as well.

Just last night I actually picked up a VE278Q - replacing a pair of aging SyncMaster 215TW's.... I must say, it's quite nice to have my display fully head-on vs having 2 monitors each angled in towards the center (had tower, monitor, monitor, printer all on my desk with the pair of 21"). Also liking the additional real estate for a gaming display without having to worry about bezel, or the fact that 2:1 Eyefinity really didn't want to work over DVI connections on my 6970. :S

My dream panel would have been a Samsung S27A850, but there was no way I was coming up with ~$900 for a monitor.... :(

I have a HDTV as a central monitor, but I m looking to change it for the VE278Q, it s good to know that it is good.

now if only i could decide what i should get first, a portrait mount(if i could find one...) or the monitor
