So as i mentioned in my re-intro thread i am currently revamping my vid card and monitor setup.
I think i'll still be OK with my i7 3600k @ 4.6ghz for a little while longer :)

I went from my bezel stripped triple head 3840x1024 rig to one of those Apple cinema knockoffs from Korea. I bought the Achieva Shimian QH270-Lite
http://www.overclock.net/products/achie ... lite-ipsbs

Running PLP Setup (not for gaming, as we know how awesome plp support is)
wings are two of the dell 19"s from my old setup.

I gotta say while i really love it, the entire time something has just been lacking.
I followed bunch of threads where people went from triple head to one 27" 1440 or 1600 monitor and never looked back. Well i have to say, while that monitor is easily the best ive ever used.. ever. i am looking back, i miss the peripheral, i miss the immersion, and i want it back, no.. if i am to continue to be "into" gaming.. i NEED it back.

My card is a gtx 470 with 1.25GB of memory, talk about hitting your vram wall.. ouch.
FarCry3: ULTRA: 1080 = 50fps+
BUT
@ 1440 its 15fps.. lol

So i am in the process of an overhaul, after spending about ~2.5 months reading reviews, looking at benchmarks, and doing some soul searching, here is what i am landing on.
3x AOC 27" I2757FH 1080 IPS monitors: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/AOC---27%26 ... Id=6293177

This is set in stone, i already bought two of them yesterday, and am ordering the third hopefully today (best buy has a limit of 2, so i'll have to go to another store or something)

and now for the video card! this i have semi-decided upon. Semi meaning i think i have made a choice but i'm still debating back and forth. Here is the dilemma.

Currently i am looking at the GTX 670, however AMD is kind of swaying me with the 7970 and free Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinite.. But we have AMD cards at my work, and i really can't stand their drivers. On the flip side, Really though, how often are you in the drivers once you have everything working? not that much.. Another big thing for me is PhysX since Borderlands 2 is just about my fav game, and i still play it a ton. Although i hear you can mod the ini files to turn on PhysX for an AMD card, so that may be a non-issue either. I also really like the idea of Nvidias 3+1 setup, correct me if wrong, but i don't think AMD offeres something like that. Also i am a firm believer that with 5760x1080 some of the upcoming titles will draw more vram. So i'm digging the 4GB card models.

Sheesh, ok before i ramble any more ill just leave it at that. So what do you guys think? should i just stick with the plan on the 670, or should i switch over to an AMD solution. I have been on this topic for over a month and i still just can't seem to pull the trigger one way or another. But now that i ordered some monitors, i'm more interested in landing on a solution :)

Being a long term AMD fanboy in terms of graphics hardware, I personally think that nV really hit the nail on the head with the 600 series. My money would be on a 4GB 670 any day of the week, although the 7950 does offer fairly reasonable value too IMO.

Oh.... and amd doesn't support 3+1 .... amd supports 3+33! iirc there is no limit on how many monitors you can have.

p.s why not just ask your neighbours to buy a 3rd monitor from bestbuy?

good info, and actually thats what im going to do, but my neighbors will probably end up being my pops, hes only a few neighborhoods away.

and i think ive landed on a 670, which is where i was leaning anyway. Also i think getting planetside 2 and hawken money was pushing me away compared to bioshock and crysis, but after reading reviews , even though the mmos are not on my "list", they look pretty fun

after burying my nose in another week of benchmarks i went with a 4gb 670 FTW, which was even overtaking a stock 680 in a few places. pricetag broke the budget at almost 450$, but i think ill be happy with it in the end.

and my third montor should arrive this weekend, i can't wait to get it all setup :D
