Really? I honestly didn't know that.

How long do you think until people will start to really use a 1000w PSU?

With the power requirements of the DX10 cards... frighteningly quickly. ;)

At least for the really high end systems. :)

[quote]Yeah, but, I don't think anyone else actually makes 850w or 1000w PSUs...Which I believe some one can use...

Enermax.

1000w PSU.

They also have a 850W in addition to the 1000W. Looks to be very nice.

i think this is all paranoia. nobody needs more than a 600 W PSU today for a high end machine. thats all marketing.

my single gpu config uses 380w aparently. if you want to then say get a 400w PSU then theres no headroom.

although a higher spec psu costs more to buy it doesnt cost any more to run the same load, and has more power in reserve

A question:

I use a Tagan U01 480W NT atm with 28A on 12V. I've read that a 8800GTX will demand 30A on 12V. Moreover I need two PCIe-6pin-connectors. I doubt that my Tagan can handle this. What do you think?

Where is the difference between the Enermax Noisetaker, Coolergiant and Liberty series?

Is a Seasonic M12/12 better than one of the Enermax. I'm thinking of buying a 600W NT with enough power to handle G80 or R600 even in SLI/CF for the future. What do you think?

30A at 12v is 360w. it cannot draw more than 225w. i would say your 480w will be stretched, but will be fine

These are exactly my worries. For the next months I will power my rig with the 4800+ and a 8800GTX. But in summer 2007 there will be a R600 or 8800GX2 in my PC accompanied by a quadcore cpu. I think this will exceed the capabilities of my 480W Tagan PSU.

Is it a good timing to buy a PSU now or is there major change in technology coming in the near future?
