Pretty amazing...

It's a DLP rear-projection display, using LEDs. It uses four panels, and I just realized that the resolution is 2x1440x900. 2.59M pixels and 3.2:1 aspect. TH2Go is 3.93M pixels and 3.75:1.

WOW! That would be incredible cool to try out! You should contact them and ask if you can review this for us!

That is indeed other worldly, but probably ungodly expensive knowing Alienware. I've been hoping DLP displays would be made small enough for desktop gaming in 1080p ever since Samsung started making the UltraSlim models. I'd be happy with just an UltraSlim 1080p 27" 16:9 flatscreen.

The wrap around idea is cool but this one looks too wide for it's height to me. The response sounds believable since lots of DLP TVs are 16 micro seconds. A .02 response is 20, so that's pretty close. Just when you think they're about to make a video card that can handle the biggest monitors by itself even playing Crysis maxed they start showing us stuff like this! LOL

(EDITED)
Strange that the guy in the video says this is LED illuminated but Engadget says it's OLED illuminated. An OLED screen would curve easier but they require no backlighting like DLP.

Engadget has to be wrong about the OLED. I noticed after watching the video again the rep says it uses OSRAM LEDs as the light source but that is not the same as OLED. OLED screens themselves light up when electricity is passed through them, entirely different technology from DLP. DLPs have LCD screens but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't work with an OLED screen.

that is indeed very interesting. I wouldn't swap it against my TH2G and my 1990FXps.

Strange that the guy in the video says this is LED illuminated but Engadget says it's OLED illuminated. I wonder if that means they use an OLED screen to make it curve easier. Problem is OLED screens have 1/3 the lifespan of LCDs. http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/07/alienware-curved-display-rocks-crysis-at-2880-x-900/

Well technically speaking OLED's are actually LED's... just organic.

So he's right ;)

He didn't just refer to OLED vs LED, he referred to it as being used in this display, which is impossible as it's a DLP. Engadget is saying it has OLED illumination. OLED tech does not use backlighting at all, like LCD and DLP does.

There really is no such thing as OLED illumination. There are OLED screens that become illuminated when electricity passes through them but not OLED illumination. You can clearly hear the rep in the video say the display uses LED lighting, which would not be required with OLED technology.

It is a nice idea but the lack of height (900 pixels) and the pixel size put me off..
Oh and being alienware it'll cost a BOMB!

Yeah I agree, but hopefully it will get other manufacturers thinking about making 16:9 DLP desktop monitors.
