Recently I saw a 32" 720p TV for just $300 and it got me to thinking maybe I could afford eyefinity finally. (I currently game on a 42" 1080p TV)

1) IF I do this, I'm mainly doing it for peripheral vision. Will it even enlarge the 90 degree field of view max currently to more? (ideally I would want 160-180ish)

2) In the interest of saving money, would you recommend putting 2 32" alongside a 42"? I've heard of people doing this, and if just for peripheral vision advantage in FPS games I would think perhaps worth it.

3) Can I set the flanking TVs to be 720p or some other lesser resolution for performance sake? (using HD5850 for Battlefield 3, and 5760x1080p it would have a tough time. Another reason I'm thinking 720p TVs instead of 1080p 42")

Thanks for reading, I know it might take a bit to answer them all thoroughly!

1) In most games you can Set the FoV like you wan't it. Or it changes when you go into Eyefinity mode. See Detailed Report if a Game does or does not.

2) I'd go with all Screens in same Size, but it's your choice

3) in Eyefinity all Screens need to have the Same resolution to work!

So just to be clear... if I do this i'll HAVE to get two 1080p TVs unless I want to revert to 720p on my main display? (yuck, and ouch probably can't afford that right now...)

It would be neat if I could quasi-benchmark this somehow, it may be that at the Low or Medium settings that I'd HAVE to use to get a good framerate that the 720p would be welcome at that point....

Is it fair to say I should expect 1/3rd of my usual framerate? I can't wait till developers wise up to these new developments and allow things like LOW setting on flank monitors, ULTRA on center main display!

Where can I see this "detailed report" so know what exact FoV I can expect from BF3? ( I currently only have 2 displays..)

You don't necessarily have to run 720p on each HDTV, some 720p sets can accept 1080p and will scale down. But yes 5760x1080 is a bit much for a single 5850 to run especially with only 1 GB of VRAM. 3840x720 may be better to run or even 4800x900.

Nice, thanks for the info. I wonder if that is something that works better for them on 1080p video and if there is any artifacts/pixelation for scaledown in gaming..?

Is there a name of this feature I could use to search or do I just have to look for "scaling" in the tech specs? I haven't seen that.

Believe it is called Interpolation.

Of course the function will vary based on the electronics in the TV, so won't really be anything in the specifications about how good it is.
