Post subject: | Vizio E371VA LCD TV 120Hz refresh rate problem |
Last week I purchased a Vizio E371VA 37" LCD TV from Tiger Direct via eBay. I first tried to buy the TV from Tiger Direct directly but ended up getting charged to my Paypal Bill-Me-Later account for an order that never went through on Tiger Direct's end. Had to go through customer service hell with Tiger Direct to get my money back...Paypal/Bill-Me-Later customer service was pretty good, Tiger Direct customer service was horrible. I ended up getting the TV off eBay via Tiger Direct. This TV is a refurbished model, didn't bother me that much as I have bought stuff from Tiger Direct plenty of times in the past with no problems and I have bought refurbished stuff and had it work fine for years. So, this TV is listed as having a 120Hz refresh rate which is one of the reasons I bought it and subjected myself to Tiger Direct a second time because it was the only place that had them in stock at the time. My intent was to use this TV as my computer display. So far the TV is working ok as a computer display hooked up to a Geforce GTX 560 via HDMI to mini-HDMI. However, I am not seeing the 120Hz refresh rate as listed as a feature. The system info screen lists the vertical refresh rate as 60Hz. There is no option for 120Hz refresh rate in any Windows or Nvidia display settings. Is there something I am missing here? Am I using the wrong connection type? Something else? Or did I get bamboozled by Tiger Direct? |

Post subject: | The screen itself refreshes |
The screen itself refreshes at 120Hz. But you cannot feed it a 120Hz signal. For your NTSC 29.97fps content, it will refresh 4 times for every 1 frame of information. Same with a PC, it will refresh 2x for each 1 frame the PC feeds it. Nothing to do about it really :) |
