Slain is another game that block the player in 16/9 but thanks to several post on how to solve the same issue with the witcher 3 , I tried the same with slain and it work. The game is now in 21/9 but beyond the 16/9 the area are a little darker !
The solution is to open the slain.exe with an hex editor (HxD or another one) and to find the 2 hex value 398EE33F which stand for 16/9 and change it with 4018E560 for those playing in 3440x1440 . For those playing in 2560*1080 , 4017AE14 should do it but I am not sure.
Anyway, here is my .exe modified for 3440x1440 : (link removed)
