Really got me confused. Installed and ran, set settings, started first level to be sure game ran ok n ini was generated. Can't for the life of me find an ini

checked

C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesRise of Nations (and sub folders)

C:Documents and SettingspdLocal SettingsApplication Data

C:Documents and SettingspdMy Documents

but cant find either rise.ini or rise2.ini anywhere and don't have a microsoft games folder within application data

Its suggested that it should be in

C:Documents and SettingsUSER NAMEApplication DataMicrosoft GamesRise of Nations

and will be rise2.ini as its the gold edition and expansion with patches already applied

heres the page im going from

http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/5422

I have the ubisoft exclusive version so I also checked ubi folders to see if for some reason with this version packed onto a dvd the ini went
somewhere ubiwise, but thats a nogo

I also searched c for rise rise2 and in utter desperation for .ini but still couldnt find anything that looked like it was linked to rise of nations in name or location

I did find

C:Documents and SettingspdMy DocumentsMy GamesRise of Nations

which contains autosaves and recorded games folders but no ini nywhere

and I also searched microsoft games incase i was missing the folder somehow but no luck, just found the program files 1 with the games in and the startmenu shortcuts folder

I would just create my own ini file with the relevant line in it but i dont know what it shouldbe called or where it should go

HELPPPPP! >.<

I currently have Rise Of Nations and I am successfully using the ries2.ini edit, though the file is not where it is listed on this site.

I want to buy the Thrones and Patriots expansion pack, but when I installed the trial version I noticed it is not allowing widescreen and there is no rise2.ini file. In fact, after searching the installation folders, I cannot find any ini files.

I can only assume this is now being handled via the registry or one of the manu .txt configuration files, but I am not able to figure out where.

I do not mind trying some things but I am begging for guidance from those smarter than I with regard to such things.

Thanks.
PoJo

I found the solution...

the path to the rise2.ini file in vista is

C:UsersinsertusernameAppDataRoamingMicrosoft GamesRise of Nations

I found it helps to edit it to match your screen resolution in as well this tells it what the minimum resolution is that you wish to use (also the res the game launches at) You will have more widescreen resolutions available after that.
e.g.
Windowed Width=1680
Windowed Height=1050
FullScreen=1
VSync=1
AllowAllResolutions=1
