Widescreen Grade: A
Multi-monitor Grade: B

Read Full Detailed Report - Anno 1404

Dawn of Discovery (US) = Anno 1404 (rest of the world)

Anno 1404 is a real-time strategy game with an emphasis on economy and... cuteness. Time to explore the seas and let your colony prosper as the crusade is brewing and mysteries of the Orient await. The new Anno boasts improved graphics, a refined interface and features a "continuous play" (sandbox) mode besides the main campaign. There's also an online leaderboard and custom map sharing system - but there's no multiplayer of any kind.

Wow, is it just me or is that game STUNNING? It looks amazing. It's an RTS?

Yup : RTS (closer to Settlers than Starcraft though), looks amazing all@max, and has lots of adjustable settings. Wait till I post some screenies showcasing the even-more-wow-inducing "postcard view" and DX9/DX10 comparisons ;)

This series has the most random chronology ever. 1602, 1503, 1701, 1404? I guess the next game will be 1800, followed by 1305: Braveheart Edition.

All of the major resolutions are supported natively, right? If so, then certified.

Who said the latest game in a series had to take place in a more recent epoch ? ("1602 A.D IV : Back to the Crusade" would've been more convenient and catchy though. Ah well.)

Certified then.

worked perfectly for the original in 5040x1050

Now, in the expansion "Venice" I don't seem to get the resolution beyond 3840x1024

Anyone having the same problem ?

That's strange.
Are you using TH2G in Vista/7 ? Does Venice have any new DX10 effects ?

I also find the HUD issue quite a problem. Considering that the game is heavily built around managing the city through your HUD, having it stretched across 3 screens is quite tiresome. Do you think there is any possible way to fix this? :)

I played the demo, and it looks like this game have some problems at 3840x2160 with in-game cutscenes.
Also, the HUD and text is tiny, but other than that it seems to be fine.

EDIT:
Actually, you know, it's not a problem with UHD. It's a problem with the height, the vertical resolution.
Starting from around 1600x900 the bars keep growing with every increase in vertical resolution

in-game cutscene
1600x1200, 1920x1200, 1920x1080, 2560x1080

I tried to patch the demo, manually adding files from the patch, there was some error, but i was able to play the game.
But i don't know if the patch was really applied, the version(number) of the demo is still the same... so i don't know.
Maybe someone with retail & patched version could confirm this behaviour
