Max in game resolution is 1920x1440.

I've tried several things to customize the resolution but no go.

Hex editing the save.dat proved fruitless... it seems it's encoded or encrypted because it produces different results each time.

Both dx9 dll resolution hacks also caused crashes.

Let's see if anyone can come up with a working method.

I have spent many an hour on the Dynasty Warriors games with no success. The save file changes are counters for the resolution values. They are most likely in the executable but in a currently unknown format.

Warriros Orochi looks the same as the Shin Sangokumusou 4 program which has also been a difficult nut to crack.

Hopefully this will be the last time we have this problem with a DW/SW PC game. :(

Actually, Dynasty Warriors 4 Hyper was easy... just hex editing the graphics.cfg allowed any resolution. Didn't adjust the FOV but that would only be a bonus for me... I'm not as annoyed by fat/stubby graphics as some people are but it bothers the heck out of me not to be able to run in my native res.

Yes the first one used a different file system then the next two. I found the hexed res in the graphics config but any change would always revert to 640x480. Maybe I was only trying with 1920x1200? What is your native res if I may inquire?

I just ran the seven resolutions that we test for and still nothing but 640x480.

Did you change anything else besides the actual res values? Like a marker or setting something to -1?

You know, that's strange. I could have sworn i ran this in widescreen.

I just edited that file and it must have some sort of crc protection because it defaulted back to 640x480.

It was a long time ago i played this but still... my memory aint what it used to be.

Sorry for getting your hopes up.

My disappointment is tempered by the fact that I may not yet be losing my mind. 8)

Thanks for checking.
