Hello, I'm new to posting but I've been lurking around for a while. I Just just up 2x 22" LCDs @ 3840 x 1200. Everything went smooth.. Windows sees the correct resolution and seems to work just fine. The issue I'm having is in the only game I actually intended to use this setup with. In World of Warcraft it only allows me to set the resolution to a maximum of 2560 x 1024. I've tried toying with all the settings and I've had no luck. I could really use some help! Thanks VERY much for any and all replies! (Also worth noting: I'm using an ATI 5850 and i have another monitor sitting in a box here.. waiting for my active display port adaptor..)

Is you desktop resolution 3840x1200 when your in eyefinity mode?

Make sure its not set lower, as for the game I am not sure but it maybe only lets you pick certain resolutions based on a certain aspect ratio.

I know for 3x24" I can only pick 2 resolutions that use all 3 monitors.

5760x1200 (native) and a 2nd much lower one.

Currently the desktop resolution is set to 3840 x 1200. It just dawned on me that the native res of each monitor is 1680 x 1050.. so the desktop SHOULD be at 3360 x 1050. That isnt an option in the eye finity settings.. it seems to think that each monitor does 1920 x 1200. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

your monitor is probably good at scaling, therefore it is a compatible resolution. My 19" 1440x900 can do 1680x1050 since it scales well (it's also a 16:10 res, so that helps)

I finally figured it out. Turns out i'm an idiot. I was using 2x VGA cables with DVI adaptors. Went ahead and picked up three DVI-D cables at my local big blue box. Works like a champ now! I don't know if this was mentioned somewhere, but Eyefinity does not like VGA cables. Now my only problem is the card isn't going handle 3x 22" at max quality settings in WoW. oh well... guess I wait for Xfire support. Thanks very much for everyones help.

I had a feeling a 5850 would not be a great choice for 3x monitor ultra high res gaming. I tried to talk a friend out of it on another forum. This is one of those situations I would have paid the extra for the 5870, but I actually have not seen any 5850 vs 5870 eyefinity benchmarks yet so I could be wrong and maybe the money doesnt get you a lot more.

I can say the 5870 has played all games including WoW for me really well in the high 40s+ with the exception of Crysis (like 15fps on only High....) and I always leave AA off on newer games, and for Need for Speed Shift I have motion blur off.

For me to say WoW works though is an empty statement since I only tested it on a private server in normal game areas, I know from talking about it on the forums that the newer areas added by the recent expansions are way harder on the system to render, I also know that the new shadows method they use is a big system killer, so if you have shadows on, see if turning them down/off makes the game playable for you.

3x Monitors really makes starting to play WoW again tempting :D but I know I wont stick with it, I do not have the time to play and I am just too burned out on it. I think I may give the starwars mmo a try when it comes out if its all its hyped up to be. Aion is getting mixed opinions. Warhammer did not do so well IMO I was in that beta.

Honestly the performance isn't BAD.. it's just not silk like it was at 1920x1080 on my 55" LCD. I'm thinking of getting the new MSI Big Bang motherboard when it comes out. Does anyone know if Eyefinity will work with the Hydra chip? I have a 5850 and an old 8800gt lying around.. it would be nice to use them both with the Hydra chip. I understand Xfire support is a ways off, so i figured this may be a workaround.
