AMD HardOCP GamExperience Wrap-Up
So, it's been a couple of weeks since the AMD HardOCP GamExperience. Took me the first week to recover from all the work to prep and exhibit, and the long drive to Dallas and back. After that, I spent the next week working on my review of the AMD Radeon HD 7950. In the time I've had to reflect on the day, it only makes me look forward more and more to the next event.
I had a great time getting to meet everyone who stopped by the booth, and I enjoyed getting to share what we do at the WSGF and show off the new WSGF Edition Multi-Monitor Stand. It was amazing to see the passion that every has for good hardware and for PC gaming. It was also great to see the number of companies who came out to show off their products and talk to the enthusiast crowd.
The event had pre-registration of 750 people. I think that and more showed up. The hall was packed all day long as people browsed the different booths and waited to see how much of the $50k in prizes they could take home. Forum member Zencyde snagged an ASUS 28" monitor in the overclocking competition. Representing both Ergotech and the WSGF, I gave away three monitor stands. Two "standard" triple HD stands went to winners of our Facebook and Twitter contests (thanks to everyone who "liked" and "followed" the WSGF), and a WSGF Edition went to the winner of a throwdown game of musical chairs (yes, you read that right - musical chairs).
I really enjoyed the opportunity to share my experience and knowledge about Eyefinity, and enjoyed fielding questions in the Eyefinity breakout session with Shane Parfitt (Eyefinity Product Manager at AMD). I'm raring to go for the next one, and I'm already looking at what I can do to make the WSGF participation better.
My wife and I were so busy talking with people and enjoying the day, that we didn't get to take many pics. I've uploaded a handful that we got to a gallery. You can see pics of me, Zencyde and CrackerJackMack, along with pics of me and Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel, and pics of the NewEgg TV shoot. Below is one pic of me and the three winners of Ergotech/WSGF giveaways. Click on the pic below to visit the picture gallery.
(L-R: Ibrin, Zach Adams, Kraige Prince and Sarah Oxford.
Zach and Kraige won the standard triples, and Sarah won the WSGF Edition.
Below is a video that NewEgg TV shot at the event. Thanks to Paul and his team for stopping by the booth and letting me talk about the 2011 WSGF Gaming Awards (though they did cut off me talking about Bethesda and the Narrow Minded Award). You can see the WSGF in the video at these times:
- 1:58 - My wife on the right side shooting video on her iPhone
- 2:04 - Me on stage talking about the WSGF giveaways
- 2:08 - Footage of my AMD rig and my 5x1 Eyefinity setup
- 4:20 - Extended footage of me talking about our GOTY and Dev of the Year awards (not shown were the Indie Dev of the Year and Narrow Minded Award)
