Action games are the most common and diverse type of video game. They are games where the gameplay emphasizes reaction speed, precision, eye-hand coordination, and/or mental sharpness. They frequently feature violent force as the main interactive feature, especially shooting or melee combat. First person shooters are a type of action game, but they are common enough to warrant their own genre, and are not listed in this category.
