Baseline (Widescreen) Solution & Issues
Some complex areas of the game have layering issues in Direct3D mode when using resolutions higher than about 1440x900. This causes some objects to draw over top of the interface while other objects flicker between visibility states. DirectDraw and GDI modes are not affected by this issue but have simpler graphics and perform worse at such high resolutions.
The mouse cursor, HUD, and menu backgrounds are stretched from 4:3. Text, sprites, and gameplay retain the correct dimensions.
Ultra/Super-Wide (21:9/32:9) Specific Solution & Issues
Ultra-widescreen resolutions are affected by the layering issue.
Eyefinity / Surround Specific Solution & Issues
Multi-monitor resolutions are affected by the layering issue.
The mouse cursor is stretched very significantly and its target is just to the left of the visible cursor.
