Wolfschanze 2
Wolfschanze II is the sequel to Wolfschanze, but now by a different development studio. It is a first-person shooter set during World War II and this time the player takes control of the Russian soldier Mikhail Nikolajev. Intelligence has provided him with information about a German machine for encoding communication. It has been traced back to Kreutzhoffen, which he infiltrates by boarding a train. Once it arrives he needs to find the location of the machine, but he is quickly spotted and needs to take out all enemies. As such it focuses on direct confrontations and stealth is not an element of gameplay. He has different weapons at his disposal and these can also be picked up from enemies he killed. Weapons now have the option to zoom in slightly to get better accuracy. The main mission is often split up into smaller tasks. In the first one for instance Nikolajev first needs to find and plant explosive charges before he can proceed. Unlike the first game there are no missions where a vehicle can be driven. The environments are also much more closed up and are all set inside dark buildings. There are seven chapters in total and Nikolajev narrates the mission objectives at the start. Sometimes there are short cut-scenes that further the story. |
