AMD "Never Settle Reloaded" Bundle Confirms Upcoming Eyefinity Titles
Is AMD's latest bundle any good? It's their second stab at a major bundle in just the last few months. In the latter part of 2012, AMD launched a marketing tie-in that bundled several games with its top end video cards. The one thing that stood out with this promotion is that the games were both (1) good, and (2) not old. To much surprise AMD's "Never Settle" bundle included then-current high profile titles such as Far Cry 3, Hitman Absolution, Sleeping Dogs and Medal of Honor: Warfighter with its AMD Radeon HD 7800 and 7900 series cards.
The whole reason to buy a new graphics card is to play newer games. The catch-22 is that after the purchase you often have little money left over to purchase said games. In the past, gaming bundles usually included lower end titles, or favorites of yesteryear. While it was great for a marketing campaign, these bundles often proven to have limited value for gamers. A good bundle to be the tipping point to splurging on a new card. And AMD is hoping you see things that way.
As we finish our holiday recovery, many of us look to these early months with not enough money to consider both a hardware upgrade and game purchases. AMD answers this need with its "Never Settle Reloaded" bundle. The new bundle offers Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinite with the purchase of a Radeon HD 7900, and Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider with the purchase of a Radeon HD 7800. (DMC is swapped for Tomb Raider in the APJ region.)
Given the current price of games, this is a $120 value. Considering that a Radeon HD 7850 can be found for as low as $170, and a Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition can be found for as low as $240, this is indeed a great value. Participating retailers include all your favorites - Amazon, Newegg, NCIX and others.
Of equal interest are some of the details found in the marketing materials AMD provided for this campaign. All four titles in the Never Settled Reloaded bundle are shown having support for CrossFire, Eyefinity and GCN (Graphics Core Next) optimization. We already knew about Eyefinity support in in the Crysis 3 beta, and from Skid's videos of DMC.
Confirmation of Eyefinity support in Bioshock Infinite is welcome news indeed, espcially given the checkered history of the series' support. Tomb Raider is also touted as having HD3D support and an "all new & top secret" DX11 effect. Well, who's excited now?
