Read Full Detailed Report - Rise of the Argonauts

Rise of the Argonauts is a 3rd person action RPG brought to you by Liquid Entertainment (who also made the nice warcraft clone, Battle Realms, in 2001) in the last month of 2008. Throughout the game you will meet other characters who will join you as argonauts. They will stay with you on your ship. When you leave the ship, you can pick who you want to accompany you. This is similar to games like KOTOR and Mass Effect. This game received above average review scores. Some people have complained that the game has way too many dialog and not enough action. I think that's not fair. While, there are some strange design choices (which works better on a console than PC) in the game but overall it's still enjoyable.

Does the game have any ingame rendered cut-scenes? Also, what about 1280x800 resolution?

Calculated grade: C
Potential grade: C+

Minor unresolved issues:
See above

CCE: 99%

Vert - gameplay and lack of several key resolutions are consequential flaws

This is probably one of those "Vert+" 16:9 games that look and feel pretty OK in widescreen, in spite of not being Hor+.
Cut-scenes and dialog scenes never look "cut off" in 16:9, and the wider FOV in combat mode makes 4:3 gameplay feel zoomed out.
Just sayin'.

4:3, combat

16:10, combat

16:9, combat

==Supported resolutions==
1280x800 and 1440x900 confirmed working (natively).
1280x768 and 1680x1050 confirmed working (through .ini edit).

==Cut-scenes==
Real-time rendered cut-scenes are Vert-.

==Surround gaming support==
Like for widescreen, some res's require manual input, and some are ready to be picked from the options menu.
Screen change is Vert- anyway.

Minor outstanding DR omissions:
Is 1920x1200 supported, and how?

Vert - is a consequential flaw.
