These are just hi-res versions of 16:10 and 16:9 shots, though :?

Really? Sorry about that :? I thought for sure that:

at 3840px × 2160px

and

at 5040px × 3090px

Would have been Surround gaming resolution shots, is there something I'm missing?

It's all about the aspect ratio, not the sheer pixel count.
3840 : 1024 = 3.75... That'd be Surround.
3840 : 2160 = 1.78... That's widescreen (16:9).

"Screenshots" of such humongous size are prolly just in-engine renders that can be resized and used on websites, printed magazines, box covers... and will retain max image quality, detail and contrast as opposed to "real" screenshots of more conventional sizes.

You could say that these pictures are related to multi-monitor stuff... since no single screen could display them at their actual size. But they're no proof that the game will have proper support for Surround, i.e aspect ratios wider than 16:9.

Well it runs in Eyefinity mode but the FOV is all zoomed in, I hope someone come up with a fix as the game is good fun.

UE3 engine and it's piss-poor handling of widescreen strikes again!

you can edit the fov for this game .
Just have to go to the game install folder then edit DFGAME/CONFIG/DEFAULTCAMERA.INI
I have everything working nicely except when you use a ballista, for some reason its still zoomed in.
There is a fov setting for the ballista but changing it doesnt seem to make a difference, maybe someone can get it working :)
