Beat Hazard is an indie game from Cold Beam Games, its basically a space shootem up but whats unique about this game is that there are no levels instead levels are generated from music files, ANY music file (well I'm assuming just mp3s but it might accept other formats). With the music itself being the core driving force of the game, to quote the steam description (where it was released on Thursday).

Welcome to a new experience in gameplay mechanics: Beat Hazard

Gameplay Powered by YOUR Music!

Experience your music collection like never before with this intense music driven arcade shooter. Each of your songs will have its own unique ebb and flow based on the music.

Power up your spaceship and watch as the music boosts your firepower. Unleash hell on the enemy ships when you max out with weapon pickups!

Beat Hazard seamlessly mixes the love of gaming and music. Together they become greater than the sum of their parts.

Unique music driven gameplay
Gameplay possibilities as vast as your music collection
Can you last a whole album in Survival Mode?
25 Steam achievements
Compete against friends on Steam leader boards
Get real time updates via the in game News System
Take on huge boss ships
Power up and unleash the deadly Beat Hazard weapon
Rank up to an Elite rated pilot and beyond
Includes a kicking rock album to get you started

The game is currently £5.24 in the uk (25% off £6.99).

Now for the details about the widescreen and TH support, it will run at any resolution that I can test, the problem is you can't set the resolution it just picks it up off the desktop. There is another problem, the game doesn't change its FoV so if you play it at TH resolution its stretched and looks bad. Since you can't set the resolution this means before you play the game you have to change your desktop resolution to a normal none TH mode.

I haven't got any screenshots atm I was more interested in getting Videos, first one is already on YouTube and I have another 6 encoding atm, all of them can be found in this thread http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=19091.

Online is only for scoring and statistics AFAIK. Apparently playing the game offline will reset all stats and progress (ranks) once you come back online the stuff in the STEAM Cloud will be overwritten with the newer data.

And the game is a lot of fun, it's very similar to those old arcade games that filled the screen with enemies and laser blasts.

The trailer said it has coop, is it local coop or online?

Also I'm pretty sure this game made me have a seizure, and I am not an epileptic. Sounds awesome! :cheers

Co Op was taken out when they ported it, although they don't remember why lol *reading from a forum* they have said they plan to put it back in though, after they've got the bugs out the way.
