Support for DisplayPort 1.2 Multi-Stream.... very WIN!
Ive yet to look into DisplayPort 1.2 tech in detail, however for the multistream to work, I would expect that the monitor would need to be compatible with DisplayPort1.2 and sport a DP output connector in order to daisy chain.

Can be googled easy so I only put the best ones with display features:
from one displayport 1.2
# one display @ 3840 x 2160
# two displays @ 2560 x 1600
# FOUR displays @ 1920 x 1200
each of course

So, as some one who is still planning but still hasn't got around to setting up a six screen setup and was planning on an Eyefinity 6 card, I can still get my six screens from this?

But...

Do the DP monitors need to support daisy chaining or is there some way to break out those outputs?

Any monitors curently out that support DP daisy chaining?

With multiple monitors off each DP output, are the other outputs on the card still active?

Seems you need either monitors with support for daisy chaining, or there will be a break out box / hub that will be released mid/late 2011 with an estimated price of $150.

Multi Stream Transport allows one DisplayPort output to link to up to three DisplayPort displays, either via a daisy-chain or via a forthcoming MST hub (which will actually allow you to connect up to four screens over any display standard). According to AMD, ‘the DisplayPort 1.2 hubs are expected to be available sometime in 2011. No cost has been determined, but we’re confident that they will be affordable, and enable a more cost effective solution for multi-display gaming than current competing solutions that require two cards.’ Rumour has it that the hubs will only be on sale well into next year and will cost around $150.

Mmm, so no daisy chain capable monitors on the horizon yet? Woud be good if Dell got the U2410 refresh ready and implemented it.

I want six output...

This could be good news:
That part is really cool, but it gets better. The new display controllers are completely independent from each other. The 'old way', circa the dark ages (2009), forced you to have all displays be the same rez, refresh rate, and everything else. If you had two of one monitor and one of another, you had to pick which one that looked bad, or simply didn't work.

The new controllers allow you to do whatever you want, however you want, and it just works. All screens can be run at completely different resolutions, refresh rates, orientations, and even color corrected separately. That is hugely impressive and extremely flexible, not to mention practical and useful.

Ohhhhh got a link to the source of that please?
Very interesting, although I think gaming on different monitors would look a bit odd, it does expand the overall flexability of the card a great deal :D

PS: spent some time looking around for displayport 1.2 monitors or ones that can daisy chain, none yet, and no hubs yets, which we do know is advertised to be on the market mid to late next year. going to be a bit like active DVI to displayport adaptors all over again.
However on the flip side there is more and more monitors being fitted with displayport that dont break the bank now.

Bit-Tech said something about how one of the DVI ports was only single link, and how one was dual link, and how it was "beyond them" why ATi chose to "skimp".

Now, I'm hoping the reason ATi "skimped" on that DVI port was that it was split, so that EyeFinity can be done on 3x1920x1200 with 2xDVI and 1xHDMI... but I have no way of testing that.
