DisplayPort provides 3.3V@500mA so I would suggest that it uses that, much like the DP>VGA adaptors.

some more info over at Anand...

http://www.anandtech.com/show/3879/active-singlelink-displayport-adaptors-available-soon

So all ATi (or is that AMD?) cards should ship with them by default seeing as they are so cheap? I hope so, but think not.

Looks neat, but I guess the most interesting part will be to see what this product, almost a year after the release of the hardware demanding it, is going to do for the folks that have been struggling through the flashing screens in addition to the other strange behaviour that occurs with various adapters.

After owning the ATI hardware for nearly a year myself, heck, I'd just be happy if I could reboot the computer and have it come back up with the same resolution that it went down with.

Damnit. I just ordered the sapphire dp to vga on Saturday and NCIX has the dvi one now

http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=55259&vpn=B087B-005B&manufacture=Accell

Is the vga more reliable with less of the flashing/blanking out/wrong res problems?
