Ok so I have an accell ultraav mini displayport to dvi dual link active adapter and I've noticed some flickering (not total blackouts) in the dp adapter monitor and blurry text. After doing some digging I've found that it's definataly the dongle causing it so I called accell today and they informed me that they have made a revision on the firmware and I may have bought an adaptor that was distributed prior to the rev. So i looked at my sticker and sure enough it doesn't contain the new f/w rev. Rather than sending it in for an update I am going to return it and get a new adapter but I'm afraid that he store still has the older versions so I'm looking at the apple mini dp to dvi dongle. I'm just curious if anyone here is using one and if so how is I performing for you. Any blurry text or flickering during gaming? Also I have had problems setting up bezel management because I get an error about resoultions not supported with my current one. I'm contributing it to the fact mine needs the update. Any input would be great because I would like to have some feedback with the apple dongle before i purchace it. Any weird quirks with them not being used with Mac hardware? Thanks alot in advance

The Apple Display port adapter is well cited to be one of the biggest steaming piles that Apple has released in the last 10 years.

I used the Apple adapter for the third Eyefinity screen, with some quirks, but it worked. I then switched up to that new Sapphire DP -> DVI adapter (made just for Eyefinity, released recently), and virtually all issues have disappeared, it seems to work perfectly, and it was only 30 bucks.

I do have a perfectly good Apple adapter now sitting in the closet, but can't really recommend it based on the newer options.

I should probably note - that new Sapphire adapter that's working so well is standard Displayport. You would need the additional adapter to bring that down to mini-displayport for the 5970.

If you would be willing to try something new; monoprice released a new mini displayport 1.1 to DVI-D DL active adapter. Its under $70.00, and monoprice has a 30 day free shipping no restocking fee on returned items policy.

I would assume it could support 120hz HD resolutions just like the apple adapter. But thats something you would have to test for yourself.

I like the apple one. Sure its has its bugs and doesn't work well for most people but if it does work it has the possibility to run at higher than 60hz which can be important in the future.

Mine works well for me.

I currently use 2 of these apple adapters. The oly reason I bought them was because they were super cheap for an active DL DVI display port adapter and they were mini display port to boot. But they suck. I have to power cycle them every once in a while. They start flipping shit when you change resolution and then have to power cycle them. I cant get past BIOS with them being powered on. I have to wait until after windows boots up to turn them on. It's really really bad.

The frustration and hair-pulling begins anew!

After waiting for over two weeks to get the proper ACCELL Mini DisplayPort to DVI-D Single Link ACTIVE Adapter with an ATI Eyefinity Certified Sticker right on the front of the package, I'm totally frustrated that it DOES NOT WORK!!!

I have now tried both Mini DisplayPorts on the HD 6870, two different DVI cables, and on two different monitors.

All I get is a black screen.

Otherwise, I'm getting the Power On indicator light, I also get the "No Signal" on screen message whenever I disable the display from within CCC or the Windows Screen Resolution option.

I can't even get a display when I try to simply Duplicate or Extend the display.

And this was supposed to be easier.

No, I am NOT happy!!!
