This game works a lot better than Dragon Age 1, a lot better. Movies play on center monitor, objects don't disappear far away when you look up.

I could see how the spell/item bar being in between monitors could cause issues for people using bezel compensation (I never did, since I'm more of a multiplayer FPS guy, and you gotta be able to see all your enemies) so I guess that is a real shame.

I was surprised to find it certified "Gold" on the EyeFinity compatibility page, guess that doesn't mean 100% eyefinity compatibility, just 99%.

Personally I'm quite pleased, at least they tried really hard here. Unlike the devs for Mass Effect 2 which just completely ignored the possibility of surround gaming.


Problem is I still have not beat the first one since they never fixed that objects vanishing bug.... and until I beat the first one I wont buy or play the 2nd one.

Oh yeah, I worked around that by zooming out and using the tactical mode for the majority of the game. Shame they removed that mode from the 2nd game, it gets really annoying. I understand they are using more higher quality models/textures in the second game, but why not at least let us use tactical mode for battles (and lock it out for non-battles, like they locked out using spells/skills)?

Your loss, though worth nothing incase you arent aware, they are standalone story lines. There is basically no connection other than token nods to fans to the 1st game.

Im just thinking now, what "objects vanishing bug"? You mean that silly thing on the mine entrance? That caught me out the 2nd playthough and I didnt have a save (well, one close enough).. so I just pretended it was meant to happen and got even better gear.
There will never be a fix if you are by that point aside from editing the save yourself to give you back your gear (by comparing an earlier save) if it bothers you that much.

Probably. I've still not played Dragon Age in Surround for more than a few minutes because of that.

Bioware and AMD both need a smack for the "Dragon Age works in EyeFinity" nonsense... sure, it does but only if you want graphical bugs!

(I wish AMD and nVidia would agree to some sort of industry standard with respect to Surround - it would make everyones lives easier...)

Honestly cannot recall that... seems such a trivial thing to get upset over. There was a time when every game on every platform did stuff like that.. and TBH, we are still in that time to a degree.

It's very annoying when you character gets stuck on an invisible tree or rock, which with a shift in view perspective suddenly pops out of nowhere. That happened to me a couple of times. But mostly it was in the distance, yeah.

How is HUD on the side monitors "not a big deal" ??

In games where you barely need to look at a HUD, sure but this is an RPG, I got a sore neck from whipping my head over to see the healthbars and crap so I just went back to one screen....

Not that the game even held my interest for more than 3 hours.. what a crappy game.

I stumbled upon Nvidia Surround Best Practices earlier:

At a quick glance it seems to cover pretty much everything in excruciating detail. Not sure if ATI has something similar.

Well, some of us have been playing surround since Th2Go, we are used to games rough on the edges. HUD on the sides is not perfect, but there's worse problems out there like HUD stretching, Vert-, etc. Or to put this into perspective of Dragon Age, objects disappearing.

Speaking of this game, I beat it. I think this article pretty much sums up my feeling

Pretty much my biggest issues non-story:

[*]Enemies spawning out of nowhere[/*:m]
[*]Reusing the same map several times for different quests (it's supposed to be "different" maps but they look exactly the same)[/*:m]
[*]A bajillion bugs (e.g. can't complete quests, exploits to make you lose/gain skill permanently)[/*:m][/list:u]

and some "taste" nitpicks:

[*]Interface is a step down from DAO[/*:m]
[*]The whole game looks like a JRPG, if I wanted that I would've bought a JRPG. I wanted Dragon Age.[/*:m][/list:u]

I guess some people who didn't like DAO might like this game since it was streamlined to be more like other RPGs (read: Action RPGs, JRPGs). But they're just slowly alienating the true fans (BG1/2, NWN, KOTOR, etc) by releasing unfinished games like this.

I am surprised at all they had time to go fix their Surround/EyeFinity support while leaving large chunks of the rest of the game broken.
