How fast are your monitors? 60hz common..

I can run older games at 2ooo+ FPS with Vsync off and it will heat up my vid cards, alot. (Quake2, VodooLights screen saver)

7979 on recent/some current titles will do similar. Well maybe not 2ooo+ but way fast!

Turn Vsync on. With 60hhz = 60fps, some newer TV's do 120 and 240. Any FPS above yer refresh rate you will never "see".

Some of the 7970's have differant voltages.

I would expect trouble if you hooked crossfire cable to two cards with diff' voltages.

You would need to equalize 'em.

I think both cards would have had the same voltage. I mean I hadn't tweaked the voltage at all.
As for the monitors they are SP2309w .... 60hz.

I did try vsync a couple of times but found other issues instead. With Crysis 2 I noticed what seemed to be co-planner surfaces... e.g. two surfaces merging with each other and causing the textures to flash.
Either way, using ultra settings, DX11, High res textures and 6144 x 1152 res... I was only getting around 30fps

hey sparx. sorry to hear about the issues you're having. one question, what is your PSU? those 7970s eat a lot of juice under load, 2 of them with an 870 run right around 1Kw at stock clocks, if my google-fu can be trusted. if anything is OC'd.....

Hahahaha nice joke! I7 3930k OC'ed to 4ghz. 7970CF @1.3V 1265Mhz = max 770W!
Normal is 550W. And GPU undervolted to 0.95V is 440W! Running Unigine Heaven Benchmark!

But i have the Same Problem as you! After 1h-2h Gaming i get a Freeze. Tried in Bloodline Champions and Kingdoms of Amalur. Skyrim works fine!
