Hey guys i just upgraded my card to 7970....

My pc setup is....

Win 7 64
8Gb ram
Intel i7 860 2.8GHz
1000wt modular PSU
160 SSD
ATI 7970 3gb

I am running 12.8 C Drivers......

I have 3 x 24 " Lcd HD Monitors....running res of 5760x1080

i am playing bf3 on LOW settings and getting about 20-40 FPS....obvioulsy way lower the higher settings i use..

I take it this is not normal...any ideas why so low?

What settings should i turn down in BF3 if i try to run in med-high?....ie like HBAo/AA etc...i dont really understand what uses up my gfx power...

I just want the game to run fine...about 40-60 FPS...but looking at its best...without all the Shading etc that you hardly notice?

Thanks for any help

OK heres how it goes with 3 screens....

Run the game on one monitor to see what sort of frames you get. That number divided by 3 will be what you get with your eyefinity setup..

So to get 40 to 60 fps on 5760x1080 you need somewhere between 120 to 180 fps minimum on 1920x1080..

Your CPU is a bit slow and needs an overclock, and think about crossfire. Could also try 3 x 720p to drop some pixels out of the calculations.

Guys thanks for reply---but the problem is the same---total garbage FPS....

I have everything on med-high 1920x1080...aa off, sbao off, etc in BF3...i am getting about 30 fps, this drops to 18 most times.

I even dropped my resolution to 1280x720...all settings on LOW with everything off and still got the same FPS as above on they settings.......WTF?

My 6970 was running far better than this..even on eyefinity, med settings.

i have reinstalled Cdrivers (thought it might be driver conflict)...still on 12.8

my setup is
ATI 7970
8GB ram
1000 wt modular PSU
I7 2.8GHz
win 7 64

1.what FPS should i expect from this card on 1920x1080 high settings (aa off, sbao off etc) in BF3?
2.as above in maybe low-med in eyefinity 5760x1080...FPS?
3.Does anyone have this card and having problems like this?what drivers etc you using?
4.i did overclock cpu...didnt do anything really at all.

Any help at all guys plz....feel as if i wastd money on this when my old card ran better :(

Hi there,

I think it would either be a driver issue or something with the video card itself.
At 1920x1080 u should be able to run everything on ultra with Antialising Deferred off and get 60+FPS quite easily. I'm using a 7850 2GB (and an AMD 960T cpu) and can run it on ultra at 1920x1080 and barely ever get below 50FPS

Maybe try to reset your Graphics settings in Catalyst, do a full reinstall of video drivers etc and go from there?
My settings at 5760x1080 are as follows:

and i usually sit between 35-40 FPS, only sometimes dipping below 30.

When you get back to testing BF3 try these settings as a starting point then work up from there, the settings that seem to make the most difference FPS wise is 'Antialising Deferred and Ambient Occlusion(HBAO)' for myself personally using an AMD card.
Also, have you tested out other games?

Best of luck ^_^
