Hopefully I'm not asking a question that's been covered elsewhere. I looked but didn't see anything. I just added a 2nd GTX 560ti and enabled 2D surround. I have 3 identical acer 23" monitors (system specs below). This is the first time I've seen or used the surround technology. My question is this: Are images on the 2 outside monitors supposed to be stretched and distorted? I know the 560ti isn't the most powerful card, but the single one was capable of running pretty much everything with the settings cranked up pretty high so I don't think that's the problem.

Also, All apps maximize to the current window, but video media (played in VLC or WMP) spans all three monitors. Is this a setting I'm missing?

Hi, I beleive the distorstion you are experiencing is called the fisheye effect, it is very common with triple wide setups.
It can be reduced by lowering your FOV, however that defats the point of surround displays to increase the FOV.

You will get used to it and just remeber the side monitors are more for peripheral vision.

Yeah, as Delphium says, it's very common. It's because most games only have one camera eyepoint for 3 monitors. It's a little bit annoying but until game makers implement multiple camera points (which they probably won't), then it's part of life.

As for media, I find the same thing with Nvidia Surround. Not all apps maximise to a single monitor perfectly with it yet. For example, Photoshop spans three monitors if I maximise it, but it's the only non-media player that I have that does this. I am sure there would be a handful that are like that.

This is inerrant due to the nature of running a very wide aspect ratio displaying a single camera's view. It's present on single monitor setups as well, but is more noticeable with wide setups. Running 3x portrait will significantly reduce this effect.

The correct way to handle this is for games to render a different camera view for each monitor. The only game I know that does this is DCS.
