Want to say hello to everyone first. I have been looking everywhere for some good info on 3 monitor set up and I finally found it here.
I want to set up 3 monitors to improve my gaming rig. Wanted to check with you guys to make sure I have everything ready.
Will be running the 7850's in crossfire and will use the 2 dvi ports and the displayport. Set up will be done with AMDeyefinity.

3 Hanns-g 25 inch vga/dvi widescreen lcd monitors
3 dvi-d 6ft monitor cables
1 x SAPPHIRE Active DisplayPort Adapter 100924 DisplayPort to DVI Interface
2 x ASUS HD7850-DC2T-2GD5-V2 Radeon HD 7850 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video

Specs on the rest of my rig:
1 x ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
4 x G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9S-4GBRL
ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ965FBGMBOX

If anyone sees any problems let me know please. Just waiting on the 1 x SAPPHIRE Active DisplayPort Adapter 100924 DisplayPort to DVI Interface I ordered from Newegg.

I echo Haldi's comments, 7970 over 2x7850, your have a lot less issues with any games that dont support the CFX, and of cause CFX only works in full screen, so any windowed applications only have the power of 1 card, not 2.

Agreed. Get a 7970 instead. Crossfire is a very driver dependent technology and combining that with Eyefinity can give you headaches. It would be worth it if you were to get something like 2 7970s or 2 7950s of course (like me, I wanted the extra power).

You can also go with a GTX 680. Its more expensive but the drivers of nvidia are better then AMD and the GTX 680 is a little bit better then the HD 7970 when i look to the benchmarks and its less power consumption.

7970ghz Edition Most of the time outpowers a gtx680... And you have 1gb more vram... Not Like that would matter!

the question is more. Do you prefer Surround or Eyefinity.

i reccomend AussieTimmes Red Vs Green Vs Blue article for more Infos.

Actually I do like the 7970 better...I was trying to compare the 7970 and the 680 but I don't know Nvidia cards..

Also can I run a 7970 and one of my 7850 in crossfire.

no.

Only 7970 and 7950 in Crossfire!

Wouldn't be wise to run 7970 and 7850 in crossfire ;) The Power difference is way to huge, AFR woul make it a horrible framerate!

(Well yeah okay, you COULD theoretically with Lucid Virtue... :silent: )
