well, it seems to work even on Punkbuster servers.

Like I was saying, I haven't seen the fov line in teh cfg file and I haven't added one yet. Since it works and looks fine I think I shall leave it alone

Phew! This one was an interesting hack to say the least.

I don't know about you guys, but my ETconfig file was a big jumble of commands, very untidy to say the least. My seta r_custom(height, width, mod) lines were scattered all over the file, but I managed to track them down.

There is no seta fov line in my file, but it seems to work well, so I won't tempt fate by adding one.

Another official Stretch"Two thumbs Up!" for this solution. 8)

The quake 3 engine was always one of my favs. So glad to see it working well with widescreen.

Files ? You don't have go go editing the files, just type the commands in the command console (` button).

/r_mode -1
/r_customwidth ####
/r_customheight ####
/cg_fov 100 or something... try it out a bit, I think I was using 100.

I'm sure I posted this here before somewhere, but it was nowhere to be found. Oh well, here it is again ^^

is that something you do once only or do you have to do it every time?

If the console command is a one stop fix, that would be awesome. :D

Update: I went ahead and tried those commands. Funny - even after edting the config, ET reverted back to the old settings when I fired it up this morning.

But! Those console commands not only work, but they stick each time I started up the game, too. I exited and restarted the game about 4-5 times today, just to check.

I even tried the FOV command, which also works. I didn't get kicked, and was playing on a punkbuster enabled server. What FoV would be 'about right'? I know this is a question of taste, but i'm interested to hear your opinions.

update Not sure why, but every few days ET loses the custom resolution, and reverts back to 800x600 or similar.

Second udpate around 100 FOV seems to work out right.

I can also confirm that changing r_mode, r_customheight/width and cg_fov works, even in PunkBuster games. It's the freakin' Quake 3 engine after all, an engine by Id Software. Of course it'll support widescreens. ;)
