Following the week after Halloween, they're going to release the upcoming game "Sonic Forces" for PC through digital download from the Steam game database and I was thinking about getting that targeted to have vert+ widescreen behavior on screen change even the HUD and other orthographic elements like FMV movies when the game's finally released.

Since the original aspect ratio here is designed for 16:9, the FOV and that should do horizontal for aspect ratios that are > 16:9 and vertical if <= 16:9.

The opcode that doesn't do anything with the vertical fov and just stores it is usually found in the field of view matrix functions in the executables much like with generations which have these:

In opcodes:
fst dword ptr [esp+38]
fxch st(1)
fstp dword ptr [esp+28] <----- Store vertical FOV
fld st(1)
fadd st(0),st(3)

In bytes:
D9 54 24 38 D9 C9 D9 5C 24 28 D9 C1 D8 C3
