Got the game. Yep, widescreen is natively supported.

On the NWN2 forums, it seems a lot of people are having performance issues. Oddly enough, the game runs perfectly on my PC, all settings completely maxed.

The graphics are definitely dated looking. What is worse is that there is no AA available in the graphics options. Only options for Bloom, anisotropic filtering, and texture detail.

So even at 1680x1050, you still get very noticeable jaggies.

A real let-down for me after playing games like Oblivion or HL-2 and Dark Messiah, where the graphics are excellent. I'd put NWN2's graphics somewhere around the original Morrowind graphics.

The camera mechanism is VERY annoying, but apparently they are working on that.

If they fix the klunky camera controls and enable AA - which for the life of me I can't understand why they didn't incorporate it, though I assume there is a valid reason - it should prove to be an excellent game!

Actual gameplay and plot thus far are very enjoyable.

What about a NWN2 Demo?

According to a developer at the official NWN forums, there will not be a demo for this game.

From maverickshane:

"To answer the specific question, no there will not be a demo before June. Nor do I expect that there will be a "demo" per say released at all. Very few publishers release demos for RPG's anymore. Demo's are best suited for other types of games that are more "level centric" (FPS, RTS, etc.) Dont expect one for NWN2."

SIGH.. another DVD-9 game.

After a lot of dissapointing experiences with recent games I prefer definitely a demo to prevent me from buying crap. I need a feeling of a game, not only screenshots.:( I was very lucky to play NFS Carbon Demo and Railroads Demo as well as Anno 1701 Demo. This prevented me from buying and saved more money for my PC-Upgrade.

I won't buy NWN2 unless its getting cheaper...around 10-20€.

I've read there are a lot of bugs and problems with the game, it doesn't sound very good. :(

Let's hear what The_cranky_hermit has to say?

Been playing the game for 2 days now with no problem except the auto patch. It seems you need 7 GIG of free space on your hard drive to run the patch. Thats alot of space just to download a patch and then install for it to work. Humm......... weird. Other than that game is fine for me.
Looks great

Here's some reviews I've read so far:

GameDaily who gave NWN2 a five star out of five star rating and said: Neverwinter Nights 2 delivers. This extremely enjoyable action RPG contains fabulous visuals, plenty of options, and incredible gameplay. Neverwinter Nights 2 is truly one of the most epic adventures found on a PC, and it should be purchased without hesitation.

I just picked this up.

Wow. I am impressed so far. I would say that it is kind of a mix between NWN1 and KOTOR. There seem to be more "character" to the game as compared to the original.

I hear a lot of people complaining on the official forums about performance issues. While I am not exactly getting "OMFGWTFSUXOR!!11!" crazy high framerates, I am getting very smooth performance with everything on high (this includes bloom and full shadows). In the starting fair area, I am getting 25-30+ fps which feels completely smooth and playable @ 1680x1050. I haven't even tried it at 1920x1200, but I will give it a shot tonight. I still think the developers can tweak the code and get better performance via a patch.

I am pretty excited about digging into this one, although I am kind of waiting for a few of my friends to pick it up so we can play through the game in co-op mode.

The game seems to support most widescreen resolutions and aspect ratios. I don't know if this one is destined for the certified "golden cog", but it will be close.

I'll post some screenies and perhaps start the groundworks for a detailed report.
