I've been running the beta 1.03 patch and the game works perfectly for me, 4XAA on and everything else maxed.

I'm really enjoying this game! Thumbs-up to Obsidian for their excellent tech response on the official forums as well, refreshing from the way many other companies handle their customers...

Same question again; which resolution and FPS?

I consider a fps lower then 30 unplayable at 1920x1200

1680x1050

I'll check the FPS tonight.

I'll make a seat of my pants guess at around 40 fps average though. It really does run quite smoothly. In some big fights, with a ton of spells flying everywhere, it does slow down. Not enough to annoy me though. I'm usually pausing like crazy in those kind of fights anyway. :D

Ok, checked FPS.

1680x1050
4xAA
All other settings maxed

Average frame rate: 25-30 fps

It's funny, it doesn't feel slow. If I played FEAR or HL-2 at that rate, I would definitely notice. I suppose it's down to the type of game and the way it is played.

Either way, I'm happy enough with this performance for this game.

FYI - to check FPS in NWN2, press "~" to open the console, and then type "stats". It will bring up a bunch of stats, the fps rate is at the top of your screen (small type).

Is this with max shadows enabled?

The game really chugs for me in certain maps (graveyard) with shadows on. I can run with shadows 90% of the time and it's "playable" but I expected better performance.

1.03 patch didn't really seem to help much at all. I think the game was released a few months too early.

Regardless, I am still digging the game. A friend and I have gotten pretty far in multiplay. The story is really picking up.

Applied the 1.03 patch but it didnt do anything for performance.
For now this game went to the bottom of my to do list. Crappy engine make me run this game @ 1280x1024 max, on a 24" widescreen LCD this causes big black borders on the screen which takes away the "feeling" of the game. I'm now into dark messiah which runs perfectly at 1920x1200 and everything set at max. ;)

Yep, max shadows. A couple of maps are noticeably slower, like the Ruins of Ilcarn (sp?) map. Cities/keep and indoors are fine though.

I'm really into the story as well...close to the end of the game though I think!
