It's just hit Alpha stage so everything is now "complete". Should be out March time-ish but if anything goes wrong then it might be delayed till Christmas which would be a travesty!

I just saw those videos of the CES footage. The game is looking really good. It looks ready for release to me. I wonder why the game is delayed... :?:

They are tuning the code = optimizing the performance, they are probably doing some finishing touches to the storyline, multiplayer etc.

This is positive:

Surprisingly, the systems at the show weren't too unreasonable. We were told the game was running on a single-core high-end CPU with the latest Nvidia graphics card, and the frame rate was smooth for the most part. Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli told us that the game still has plenty of optimization work to go through.

So if i plan to buy Dx10 card, it should not matter, that i have only AMD X2 4600+, i will be able to enjoy the game (depending on the card i'll choose and resolution i will use / i would love to use 1680x1050 :-)) on full or nearly full details.

PS Dx10 is different to Dx9, it is gonna be optimized, so although it uses Shader Model 4 which would make the game run slower than on XP (SM3), i believe the game will make use of different, performance optimized Dx10 architecture, and you will not notice any negative difference in framerate while running the game with better visuals and superior details on Dx10. I inwardly hope for even better performence on Dx10 with Dx10 card on Vista then on XP. But maybe i am just too otimistic.

Alpha to Gold doesn't take mere 2 months for software of this scale. Q3 2007 sounds like a way more reasonable estimate. Not even Electronic Arts pushes their stuff through Beta that quickly. :p

Release-Date:
Q1 2007

Taken from Crytek's Site.

Gamespot says March 07

And Crysis-Online have recently updated their game info to "May 07" across all territories.

Lets hope Gamespot is the Correct one :D

Well, in here http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=71621 they say:

Even in its pre-alpha state, PC shooter Crysis looks absolutely knock-out, especially to the general consumer crowd.

When's it going to be finished?

"As soon as possible." He's still smiling. "We're hoping this year, but we're not making any commitments or promises at this time."

So far, the latest release date information says: late Q2, but not 100% sure

It is on Inquirer (they asked about the release date)
http://www.crysis-online.com/?id=163

"Crytek are going for a middle of the year release (late Q2)."

and on IGN
http://pc.ign.com/articles/754/754196p1.html

"..we look forward to more play time as it nears its Q2 2007 release."

IGN Release Date: US TBA 2007, Europe December 31 2007

You can never believe the release dates posted by online stores. I would say that the May date is more realistic.
