Thanks :)

I did try this last night but I didn't touch any of the "advance" options (it was getting late).

When I pressed test it said failed...

When I get home I'll try playing with the advance options and see how I go.

Racer_S, you have just won an Nvidia 8800 from 2K!!!
And as for widescreen, we also want to say we completely understand a user's desire to augment their FOV. BioShock is a harrowing experience, but we don't want anyone to feel limited (or motion sick!). So we are in the process of working on an official PC patch to give widescreen PC users a choice to expand their horizontal FOV, and are investigating creating a similar update for the 360.

And finally, I want to personally congratulate Racer_S from the Widescreen Gaming Forums, and his awesome user patch to expand the widescreen FOV in BioShock. I'm currently tracking him down via email, but hopefully, he'll accept my gratitude, and maybe an Nvidia 8800 to boot.

Thats GREAT! At least they are seeing the light. Good on Racer_S. And good on 2k for listening to their customers.

I've downloaded the fix, and after setting (both) the sliders to 0.84 for my 16:10 widescreen, I'm awarded with a cute little config.ini.

Am I to place this somewhere in the BioShock folder in order for the fix to work?

No it just needs to be wherever the hacks .exe is.
Start the game up with the hack running and press * on your Num Pad ...
As in the readme ...

People keep mentioning to change the game to dx9 via the launch options by right clicking the shortcut, BUT THEY DO NOT EXPLAIN HOW EXACTLY. I can't explain how extremely enfuriating this is.

I found out via the 2k forums in the end, for those who dont know you need to add -dx9 to the end of the path in the shortcut options.

I will test this with the steam version in a an hour or so when it's done preloading

It's not the shortcut, you have to right click in the games explorer.
