I thought the refresh rate was going to be the solution because it was set at 60 where my tv does 30 when at 1080, but I still got the same issue unless I have to change it in another place other than the ini. I tried the screenshot and it ended up taking a picture of a black screen in 1920x1080.

30 is really low for a PC game refresh rate. I am unsure if KOTOR even supports it.

If possible try using KOTOR on another display to check the UniWS. Or maybe your display accepts a lower output resolution with a higher refresh rate like 60 that I know KOTOR supports. At least it would help you narrow down where the problem is occuring.

What TV do you have?

and yeah I was starting to think it just doesn't go below 60 also, and I know uniws works since I use it on my 22" primary monitor. Just find it odd that a game like fallout would work fine but not kotor but then again fallout officially supports ws.

I assume your desktop resolution is 1920x1080? What is the desktop refresh rate under display properities?

It is at 30hz on 1920x1080

One thing I don't get is I set my resolution in kotor to be 1600x900 and that worked perfectly fine but it runs at 60, and according to nvidia panel at that resolution the tv is at 30.

Also another little problem I was having while trying different resolutions is when I tried to play at 1280x720 or 1280x768 the game crashed and I got the kotor has stopped responding thing. At the 720 resolution my tv runs at 60 so I don't think that would be the problem, in addition it crashed on my primary monitor as well. It doesn't matter too much since those are the only resolutions that have crashed so far, but just wondering if their is any reason for that.

The game will always crash out at the 1280 resolutions. No one here is sure of the exact cause of the crash.

You could try the 1530x864 solution talked about in the first post. That was a work around for 720p signals. I do not know what the quality will be however.

I think the main problem with the 1920x1080 is that your set is interlaced 1080i CRT. A CRT at 30 should cause some serious eye strain. I think it is actually outputting at 60 or higher but the drivers say otherwise. Maybe HDTV CRTs are different than traditional CRTs.

Just to make sure, when the menu screen goes black in 1920x1080 can you hear any music? If not, does it work on your primary display in 1920x1080? It might not be an out of range problem.

Other than that, I would suggest trying the technical support forum section of the site. There should be a more HDTV experienced users that might be able to assist you.

Yeah I do hear music and once I press the windows key on my keyboard the display comes back up on the desktop.

I guess I will try the other section, thanks for the help.

Yeah man I can't enter the desired resolution either, ever since I patched it to the latest version, that is. I also changed the res in the .ini file and put the 16:10 HUD hack in the necessary folder, as instructed, but no dice.

Before patching, I got a different problem. I could select my desired resolution (1440 X 900) but it said that the patch couldn't install, and to please close all other programs (they were all closed, btw.)

I'm thinking that because my max resoultion on my laptop is 1440 X 900 that I can't use this hack since using your custom res requires you to select a resolution with a height greater than is supported by my laptop monitor. I am going to hook my lappy up to my TV tonight and see if that helps, but of course I will only be able to play it on the TV at that point, which is dissapointing. Oh well... it's still a fun game stretched, I guess.

I would love it if you could choose your custom resoultion by selecting a resolution equal to or lower than my laptop's native resolution (1440 X 900). Short of that, I'd appreciate it if anyone could show me the HEX instructions for KOTOR 2. (All I find here is the instructions for KOTOR 1).

In my experience with UniWS, this happens when you have not made the game files accessible in your Windows profile (i.e. securit settings, or read only).

In Vista go to the security tab and make sure your user profile, not admin, has the right to save or edit the files in the KotOR directory.

Kojiro_39, your avatar is far too big in both dimensions and filesize. From the profile page ...
...its width can be no greater than 168 pixels, the height no greater than 105 pixels, and the file size no more than 10 KB.

Please change it ASAP, thanks.
