I didn't edit the 2D backgrounds though, I don't really know exactly what I need to change with those.

It'll be an easy edit, but I'm not sure it will come out 100% perfectly since 945 is an odd hieght.

First start with my 1680x1050 files. The backgrounds are all the TGA files. Open them up and they'll be 1024x512 in size (textures sizes need to be powers of 2). They're get scaled to screen resolution in-game.

So to work with them, first you need to resize them to "actual" size as they appear in game. So resize them to 1680x1050 in an image editer with a good scaler algorthm (i.e. Paint won't cut it).

Then you just have to crop the appropriate amount of pixels off the top and bottom. Here's where the problem with 945 comes in - you won't be able to crop the same amount of pixels from both. It's never going to line up 100% pixel perfect with the central menu control - but at least you can get it close. Crop 52 pixels from one and 53 from another, you choice on which.

You then need to take the resultant 1680x945 image and resize it back to 1024x512. Plop that in the override directory and you're good to go.

There, all done. I feel like such a geek now, editing hud-files and background images

Thanks for the help, Sweetz! :D

edit: I uploaded the edited files to MEGAUPLOAD, if there's anyone else that wants to use them. I used AVAST to do a virus scan for the .zip before I uploaded it.

Just bought this game from steam and tried this trick but am unsuccessful. I have the hacked exe but could not get it to work right.

I set the game to run in windowed mode, will this interfere with anything?

Please, if someone could make a look at my exe and see if I did it right, I'd appreciate it very much.

I want to run the game at 1440 x 900 windowed mode. (i multitask way too much for full-screen)

Hmm. I'm not sure, I never bothered to test the mod running in windowed mode. It's entirely possible it may not work.

Before looking into this any further, you should first verify that the game runs with the mod applied in non-windowed mode ok. If not, there's likely an issue with how the mod was applied. If it does run ok, then we can assume it's a problem specific to windowed mode (and unfortunately there's probably nothing we can do about that).

1920x1200 doesn't work...

All resolutions supported by the mod have been tested and verified. The screenshots in the DR at the start of this thread demonstrate 1920x1200 running successfully and correctly.

With no info to go on, all I can say is follow the instructions here as carefully as possible: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php/WSGF_Hacks_for_SW:KOTOR

If you're having trouble with a specific step, be detailed when explaining what you did so far.

Hey, first of all, the patch worked wonders for me, but I use a 1600x900 16:9 resolution and the HUD looks messed up, and in the wiki I didn't find a correct HUD for this reso. How can I manually modify the files so the hud looks as it should in my resolution?

Thanks in advance.

First I would try using the 1530x864 files, this is close enough to 1600x900 that it would probably look acceptable. If you still don't find it acceptable, the instructions for how to edit the hud files yourself are here: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/8450#comment-164918

Except you can skip steps 1-5. You won't need to export the HUD files, just download the 1440x900 files and work off of those. You'll only have to worry about editing the LEFT values. Add 160 (1600-1440) to anything where the LEFT value is greater than 1000 or so.

K, done with the editing files, works like a charm.

I will now edit the menus backgrounds, once I have it finished I will rar it and post it for the rest of the users that need that resolution, also would be great to have it posted on the wiki I think.

Done, here it is. (1600x900).

Nevermind. I had to edit swkotor.ini to make it work (which I had done before but to no avail, go figure  )

I'm sorry for my ignorance, but I don't remember if somebody found if the hack works in surround or not.

Wiki says this:
Surround Gaming support

None, as the hack has not been testing in Surround

But the wiki has been wrong before so I'm still not sure. I'd be more than willing to try it if nobody has tried yet.
