Great idea guys, thanks. I'm setting up a new rig and it's decision time on the monitors so this is helpful.

Unfortunately most of the models listed so far seem to be slightly older monitors, so it makes it hard when looking to buy current models that are compatible.

has anyone bought any current model 22" monitors that are known to work?

Looks like the list needs a little updating as well.

KNOWN WORKING :
Viewsonic VX1940w

Known Working: Asus VK222H

Thanks, Paul.

KNOWN WORKING

Samsung 226BW

edit 11-09-2008:
My 226BW needed to get repaired. I am not aware if this is due to use at 57hz, so i would not buy this one, maybe a problem

Thanks.

Nice monitor too, just a bit out of my price range :(

Any more?

Paul.

KNOWN WORKING

Samsung 226BW

Ok, seeing as the choice seems limited, I'm thinking of stretching the budget a bit to get 3 of these to run @5040x1050.

Can you confirm for me that they run at 57Hz in this configuration without any problems?

Do you have the warning message about "not running in a standard resolution" that seems to be an issue with some other Samsung models?

Thanks, Paul.

OK, this is becoming very frustrating.

I have some money burning a hole in my pocket and I want to buy 3/22" widescreens that will work at 5040 x 1050 at 57Hz.

I've been through the list on first page and any other monitors mentioned in this topic but so far this is what i have:

ACER P223W: Questionable quality?

CHIMEI CMV22ID: Never heard mcuh of them but as far as I can make out not a highly recommended brand.

DELL E22WFP: Good quality BUT I have recieved an email back from DELL tech support saying that none of their 22" widescreens will work at 57Hz.

LG L227WTG: This model doesn't appear to be available in Aus. Even so LG doesn't appear to have the best name?

SAMSUNG 225BW: Another brand with a good name however every model seems to have the annoying warning message.

VIEWSONIC VX2235WM: Once again don't seem to have the best name in terms of quality.

ASUS VK222H: I thought they had a decent name but could be wrong. I've tried to contact ASUS support to confirm compatibility but no luck. Even though the specs look ok I know there has been problems with other ASUS monitors with similar specs.

And that's it. If anyone can shed any light on some of the brands I labelled "questionable" in terms of quality I'm all ears.

Help me spend my money please :)

22" AG Neovo H-W22 Widescreen LCD

Add this one to the list that does not support 5040x1050 @ 57hz

Max resolution is was able to run at was 4320 x 900 (3 x 1440 x 900) 60Hz

The picture quality of these monitors looks pretty bad when not using there native 1680x1050 resolution. To bad as they are only £135 a pop from Scan.

If your looking for a monitor for TripleHead i would stay well clear of these monitors.

Already RMA'd back to Scan.

Ok, so I've now had two email replies from Dell and Samsung saying that none of their 22" widescreen moniotrs will run at 1680x1050 at 57Hz, yet there are people here that say they work "straight out of the box".

Is it a matter of "forcing" the monitors to run at that resolution by creating a custom resolution or something?

If so, is there any chance of long term damage in doing this, as they obviously aren't designed to run at 57Hz?

Paul.

It's just ignorance on the part of the company representatives...why would anyone want to use 57Hz? Up until recently there was no reason at all, and Matrox gear (or the recent firmware update) are not common knowledge.

Known (confirmed) working:

3 22"s running at 5040x1050 57hz

Dell 2208WFP (Rev A01)
Zalman Trimon 22" ZM-M220W

Only issue Ive found is the Dells cannot handle more than 80pixels Bezel Management without distortion and shrinkage on both sides of the image (instead of just side opposite to the center)

EDIT, just saw this:
OK, this is becoming very frustrating.

I have some money burning a hole in my pocket and I want to buy 3/22" widescreens that will work at 5040 x 1050 at 57Hz.

I would wager no Tech Support agent from any PC company would answer you truthfully, they are just closing your "awkward" ticket with a simple and easy "no".
