Good news bad news...

Sounds like they are making an effort with the visuals;

Bioshock 2 will support single-screen 4:3, 5:4, 16:9 and 16:10 resolutions. The game has been optimized to ensure that all game elements such as menus, HUD, UI, etc appear exactly the same regardless of what resolution the user is running the game at.

But no dedicated servers for the much anticipated MP :cry:

Bringing Multiplayer to BioShock was a daunting task between the tech (there was no multiplayer support in the codebase from the first game) and the expectations of the community. Either you try to do everything and so nothing feels finished or you focus your efforts to do a smaller number of things really well like an accessible online experience. We chose to spend the time we had creating a solid game foundation and unfortunately that did not include LAN play or dedicated servers.

They should have never done multi for this game in the first place. With the original selling oodles without it, one wonders why they thought the needed it.

Well firstly, it specifically says "single monitor" in the list of ARs so that almost guarantees surround resolutions not to work properly.

And I really can't believe that it's easier to implement a matchmaking system than to have dedicated servers. :? Surely way more code, effort and bandwidth goes into the former..?

Isn't it only 4 players max for MP? A dedicated server would be overkill for that.

Good to see they are on the bleeding edge of technology.

Eh.. I won't be holding my breath for HOR+, let alone triple-screen.

I always thought MP was s silly idea for the game and never expected too much in the first place, so thats not a concern for me.

But I enjoyed the first one enough. I don't get why everyone else liked to shit on it.

Yeah, I agree; I mean it's only something that other developers have been doing for years... :rolleyes:

I expect it to work similar to Bioshock post patch since they are using the same engine and all.

Left 4 Dead 2 has lots of servers that have 4-8 players though I guess you have the billions of zombies to chew up the free processor time.
