Hi all I am a noob to these forums having been guided here from overclock.net - I am/was in the process of setting up an eyefinity setup. I have bought 2 extra Dell 24" E248WFP'S monitors (now have 3) and just orderd a HD5870. I am now looking for an DisplayPort adaptor. I have been reading this forum for a few hours and seen that there are a few options:

Sapphire Active DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
Dell Active DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
Displayport-to-VGA

A few questions are the Sapphire and the dell the same thing/build?

Does the cheaper Displayport-to-VGA limit in anyway from DVI input (my max resolution is 1920x1200)?

People seem to have flashes/lines/blackouts from using these things is this the norm or is this just bad luck?

I wanted to use eyefinity but with all the problems on this site with the adaptor maybe I will be out of luck

It's not exactly a problem solved, as the adapters themselves are hit or miss, you either get a good one or a bad one. The first active adapter i got from Amazon didn't work, the second never made it to my house, and the third works great.

But yes, all of the active adapters internal bits are made by Bizlink. that means that Sapphire, Dell, Accell or who else, all have Bizlink parts inside.

Go for the least expensive one and hope you get a good one. Bad ones normally need extra power from a wall plugged USB, flicker constantly, do not show video and some have grey lines going threw the screen.. all of these can come in different combinations.

Here is a video of a bad active adapter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRVV2w1Ib2o
Good Luck :P
